Drove to the court house early in the thunderstorms for jury duty.
Thankfully the judge announced the trial was cancelled.
The defendant decided to plead guilty at the last minute on all charges.
Good news for all 66 of us that were there to be chosen for the jury.
And I will get a big paycheck of $11.00 soon for showing up.
I have done my civil duty for now. Until next time.
Glad to be home enjoying my coffee and listening to the rain fall.

@CarolDM I think it's less here, if I remember from when George got summoned. Then again, they would only pay for so many days and it's up to your place of work if they're going to pay for your time off. George was able to get out of it because of me, but damn.

@kaylachan They have always paid around this amount here. I think every state is different.

@CarolDM Don't I know it! After I sent that comment, I thought, "Hmm. Let's see. $1.00 at Dollar Tree. $1.00 at Dollar General. $1.00 at Publix. $1.00 at Ollie's. $1.00 at Big Lots..."

@CarolDM that feels like it isn't enough, but 2 years isn't either!

Have you ever served on a jury? I haven't.

I've had to go once or twice but was sent home too. Never got paid though.

I'm glad you didn't have to serve. Have you ever participated in a trial? I think everyone should have the experience at least once.

@CarolDM The one I served on was a child abuse trial. Not a good one to be on.

@LindaOHio I would not want to be at that one. So very tragic.

Gee that is cheap. We get 30.00 per day if we show up for jury duty here.

Glad they settled it so you don't have to go. Sometimes, it's just not convenient at all. But in retrospect, I guess some people have to do jury duty sometimes, unfortunately.
