Back Home With No Jury Duty

Drove to the court house early in the thunderstorms for jury duty. Thankfully the judge announced the trial was cancelled. The defendant decided to plead guilty at the last minute on all charges. Good news for all 66 of us that were there to be chosen for the jury. And I will get a big paycheck of $11.00 soon for showing up. I have done my civil duty for now. Until next time. Glad to be home enjoying my coffee and listening to the rain fall.

@CarolDM I hope it was better weather on your return trip to home. I am glad the trial was cancelled and you still got something for going there. How many times does one get called up for jury duty?

@CarolDM So do you get called every 3 years and so far you have been lucky where you could go home and not serve or have they cancelled trials before so you could go home?

Rain all day but all is fine now. Every 3 years you can get called here, each state is different.

@CarolDM I think it's less here, if I remember from when George got summoned. Then again, they would only pay for so many days and it's up to your place of work if they're going to pay for your time off. George was able to get out of it because of me, but damn.

@kaylachan They have always paid around this amount here. I think every state is different.

@CarolDM Don't I know it! After I sent that comment, I thought, "Hmm. Let's see. $1.00 at Dollar Tree. $1.00 at Dollar General. $1.00 at Publix. $1.00 at Ollie's. $1.00 at Big Lots..."

Every penny counts. Still, glad to hear you didn't have to sit through the selection part. Years ago we would have to stay, whether we were chosen or not, for a whole week.

I'm glad you didn't have to serve. Have you ever participated in a trial? I think everyone should have the experience at least once.

Glad they settled it so you don't have to go. Sometimes, it's just not convenient at all. But in retrospect, I guess some people have to do jury duty sometimes, unfortunately.

I was there, ready for jury duty and the judge said at the last minute she pled guilty.
