The nuclear branch of Defense Research and Development Organization, India has come up with a new drug by name '2DG' which is presumed to be a game changer! This is not a vaccine but a treatment to tackle the virus in the body. The chemical 2DG is 2 Deoxy De Glucose is a source of energy as it is a glucose. Once the Virus enters the body of a human being they try to multiply the genetic material or the protein material by taking the energy from the human body! Here comes the role of this '2DG'. When this drug is given the virus takes up this pseudo Glucose from the cells of human beings for multiplication but can't multiply as this '2DG' is having the property of making the virus neuter , so that the propagation is stopped! Thus the cheater is cheated to lose the battle! This medicine is likely to be produced by Reddy's Labs in the Hyderabad and today some 20,000 doses will be released in the market for use at an affordable rates!

@LadyDuck , Mutation doesn't make any difference as this is not a vaccine! But since it is a medication it will attack the physiology even in the variants which is same!

I hope it works but 20,000 doses are not enough for a population of a billion people. I hope they up the production and distribution of it.

This is just a formality where these doses are given to the AIIMS in the evening! It is obviously understood that the requirement is very high!

Might be something promising, but probably will require a lot more research. Incidentally, most deaths have been linked to a deficiency of vitamin D. So, maybe if people just take more vitamin D this will also help. Either way, I am not sure the company making this will make much money from it. Covid was never that serious and hardly deadly... So, they may just be wasting time and money.

@porwest , I think that becomes the responsibility of the local Government to save the people of respective countries! The countries like India, US,Russia, Germany and China can come forward and donate some vaccines to prevent this infection! I feel sorry for you are looking the things in a negative manner!

@porwest , Since I am a Vet and since I know the person who is making Covishield very well as he is the owner of a Thoroughbred Stud Farm, I trust the vaccine and endorse it! Regarding the media, it is their business to exaggerate the news or misreport the news and later on to give apologies to the people! This has become normal now a days! Governments vary from Country to country and so far our Government is doing good as far as tackling the Covid is concerned!

@AKRao24 I don't trust government at all. I think government is what not only got us into this mess, but forged ahead with a HUGE lie and terrified people and shut down businesses needlessly. One huge scam. And God only knows what they put in those vaccines. On top of that I don't feel I am being negative at all. I am able to do math, see truth, use my own brain, and think for myself. And what I found is that the government(s) and media were all full of crap.
