My hemorrhoids suddenly flared up. Or not.

(delay) "Hi, this is Michael. How are you today?" (New York accent) "Well, my hemorrhoids are flaring up a bit but other than that..." "I was just calling because firefighters..." (click) Would you stay on the line longer if SPAM bot calls calls had an algorithm for dealing with our ailments? I do believe that ONCE I heard "I'm sorry to hear that. The reason I'm calling..." I was actually tempted to play along. But I didn't. Do you hang up immediately when you get bot calls?

I usually answer any number that I don't recognize with "I'm just dying to hear about my extended warranty."

@TheHorse No, I do not think that the US is the "Wild Wild West", I think it's too much "commercial" everything is a "business", no soul, in many fields, robots could replace humans and no one would notice.,

My phone doesn't allow calls to connect if the number isn't already in my contact list. Anyone who wants to be added to my contact list has to send me a text message and then, if I approve of them, I will add their number so they can call me. *shrug*

I answer all calls because I sometimes get calls to do study panels/research. I usually tell them to take us off their lists. The ones that say they are going to charge $186 to my account if I don't talk to them...I block.

LOL! I've never gotten one that threatened to take money from me if I didn't talk to them. I'd probably call the local police if I got that one.

@TheHorse i understand that - the other day I got my 8th call from a home renovation company so I just started talking. They hung up after about 5 minutes. I told them why I was broke. What was going on in my life and that I was deathly afraid Cicada's would eat my house!

Nowadays these calls have come down. But I do feel sorry for those with whom I have been nasty in the past. Jobs are so hard to come by. They were only trying to earn some.

Yes, I do. Because no matter what you say, they'll keep going. I make them hang up on me sometimes. Like one had my name and the address to an apartment I once lived at. Then asked me if it was a single family home. I didn't even get the words 'apartment complex' fully out before they hung up.
