Family Get-Together and Crawfish Boil

Sunday we are having a family get together at my cousins house in southern Louisiana. This used to be a birthday celebration for their mom but she passed away several years ago. They decided to revive the get together since we have not gotten together for a few years now.
I am looking forward to seeing some cousins and their kids and grandkids tomorrow that I haven't seen in some time--probably since my aunt's funeral. It will be a fun day and good food.
The guys will be boiling crawfish and everyone will be bringing something to munch on or a dessert.
It will be a fun day. What are your plans for Sunday afternoon? Have you eaten boiled crawfish before?

We did! We actually had too much food and everyone brought dinner home with us. We have a cousin that married into family that has a couple of Chic fila's and we had catered platters of chicken salad sandwiches, ham, beef and chicken nuggets. More munchies and lots of desserts too.

How nice, after all this time being apart, it's fun getting together. Sorry to hear about your Aunt. My Grandpa liked it, when alive. I've never ate them, but never cared for lobster either.

I'm glad you will be getting together with family today. Going out to eat at Red Lobster today. I've had crawfish before. Not one of my favorites. I prefer crab, lobster and scallops...and clam strips. I hope you have a great time!

those are the best days! i love crawfish (in Indiana they are called Crayfish for some strange reason). My favorite version I had in New Orleans was the one boiled quickly and covered in spices!

@DocAndersen Yes, they are. And if they aren't quite hot enough, you need some ketchup and hot sauce to dip them in!! Or Tiger Sauce!

No crawfish for me. I’m allergic to seafood and such. But that won’t stop you, and in fact you now have an excuse to eat more: you have to eat some for me!

After a hurricane one time, our yard was full of crawdads. True story. But I've never wanted to try them. Hope y'all have a great get together!

@kareng When I was a kid, my Mom would have them in a bucket, and we use to play with them..Wouldn't do that now for nothing. Lol.

I can honestly say, I'm not sure. I'm a Florida girl, and I am sure I haven't had frogs legs or alagator, either. But, I do like the sound of tradational suthern cooking. I'm sure I'd like it.

No, eating crayfish always grossed me out. Dad would suck the brains out of them...

It didn't disappoint! All good and all the throw ins were good too. They had thrown in some fresh pineapple that came out pretty awesome!! Who would have dreamed? We also had corn, potatoes, brocolli, garlic, lemons, sausage and the pineapple.
