I received a 15% discount coupon from Red Lobster via email; and it was only good for 3 days; so we went to Red Lobster yesterday and had a fabulous seafood dinner. I had a $5 gift card that I had earned plus enough PayPal money to pay for the dinner. We also had earned a free piece of Key Lime Pie from the Red Lobster Rewards program. It was close to 90 degrees (32.2 Celsius) yesterday; but we cranked up the AC in the car and were quite comfortable.
Our little housekeeper will finally be coming tomorrow. I have plans for her to help me get organized and put a lot of things away and fill up another box for donation.
The other house - Hubs still has not been over there; and from what I understand, the hot, hot, hot housing market has taken a downward turn. We always knew it wouldn't last forever; and interest rates will be going up some. However, he agreed to have Ohio State Waterproofing come and give us an estimate for fixing the water leak in the room off the garage. We want to get a written estimate so that we can give it to the prospective home buyers. The basement has already been waterproofed by B-Dry. At least this will get him over to the house...PLUS the lawn maintenance people said that they mowed the lawn, did yard cleanup, trimmed, etc. $500 compared to $288 for just mowing the lawn is a LOT.
Sorry that's so long. Wanted to give you a complete update.
What's going on in your corner of the world?

Oh wow! $500 for mowing and only mowing? Even $288 is ridiculous for mowing!

You know it! We get our 1.25 acres mowed for $30. The kid across the street does it for us.

@LindaOHio We pay around $50. The neighbor's boyfriend does it for us. He's also the one who took our trees down, put mulch in areas, got us a good estimate on roofing and is doing the same for our driveway.

@ScribbledAdNauseum This time of year it's already too late to get a landscaper to do mowing; and you usually have to have a contract with them...so unfortunately we take what we can get. If we could just put the house up for sale, we could be done with all these expenses.

It’s a beautiful May morning. Sunny but cool. I’ve hung out my laundry and now plan to retreat to my sewing room for an hour.

Good to see you here. We are stuck because other lawn maintenance people are contracted for the season.

Me too! I even suggested that a handyman come in and do what hubs wants done to the house but he said, "They're too expensive". More expensive than paying premium empty house insurance, utilities, taxes, lawn maintenance? Sheesh!

Glad you enjoyed the photo. $500 is atrocious! We are stuck because the other lawn maintenance people are contracted for the season. They SAID that they did yard cleanup, trimming, etc. We shall see.

Ouch, $500? I hope that’s for five months’ worth of work, or that you have a yard the size of Rhode Island!
Over my 24-hour tummy bug for the most part. I greatly enjoyed Phil Mickelson becoming the oldest player to ever win a golf major yesterday.

I'm glad you feel better. Yeah, YAY for Phil. Nope. We have one acre; and that was for one visit. They said that they did yard clean up, trimming and mowing. We shall see. It's still too expensive.

That is the most adorable photo I've ever seen! Glad you had a great dinner at Red Lobster. I use their gluten free box mix for the cheddar bay biscuits and they're almost as good as the real thing.

Glad you had a good meal at Red Lobster. Sorry the housing market is slowing down. Hope you get the issues resolved. I would look for someone else to mow the yard if at all possible.
Got clothes drying outside and have some housework to tend to shortly. Have a good day.

Tell me about it. Another premium is due for quarterly insurance on an empty house in mid-June. It's quite prohibitive.

$500 is too much for just mowing the lawn. In my opinion anyway.
It's great that you were able to enjoy your Red Lobster dinner and not spend much.
