Hot Weather Means Iced Tea for Me, What's your summer cool off drink?

After three days of 90 degree (F), 32 (C) weather here, I am thinking about ways to cool off. I open the windows in the morning to let the cool, fresh morning air in, then, by noon, it starts to get hot and the windows are closed, the a/c goes on. I drink strong, black coffee in the morning, but by lunchtime, I am ready for my favorite summer drink, iced tea. I bought a box of 100 Lipton tea bags that will last about a month, since we make tea every day. I put six bags in a quart (liter) of water, boil it in the microwave for about six minutes, then let cool. I dilute it some with water, put it in a big pitcher and refrigerate it. I usually have a big glass at lunch and another later in the afternoon. My wife puts lemon in hers, not for me though. Tea has caffeine, but not as much as coffee, but it is still nice warm weather pick-me-up. What is your favorite cool drink in hot weather?

@JamesHxstatic Totally weird weather over here. In a couple of days we're headed back to the dry 70s, maybe low 80's.

Slurpees from 7-eleven. I get them year-round, but they feel the most refreshing on a hot summer day.

Plain ol' water is fine for me - I don't even need ice! I love hot coffee or hot tea no matter what the weather. Oh - sometimes I will squeeze a bit of lemon in my water.

I am curious about the water. Is it LA water or bottled water?

I like green tea in hot weather, but never refrigerate it.I think a cup of hot green tea can make me sweat and cool off.

@JamesHxstatic I think it made sense for them just to be allowed to drink hot coffee. The cool drink would suddenly constrict their blood vessels in the stomachs and disorder the digestive system.

That could be. Many years ago, during the Great Depression (1930s), my father went from Texas to Oklahoma to get work in a steel foundry. When the men took breaks from the very hot furnace area, they were only allowed to drink hot coffee, nothing cold.

Being in NC, you know we live on sweet tea year round! I do make decaf, though. I love fruit flavored tea also, especially peach tea.

@JamesHxstatic My dad used to take cold tea with him if he went cropping or whatever and had to take his lunch with him. I'd forgotten about that.

I've never heard of anyone making tea in the microwave. I didn't even know he could do it. My son likes a cup of tea, but I still opt for water, but sometimes for lemonade.

You can boll the water and then put the tea in or put the tea in the water and get it very hot.

@ladyhero It makes over a liter of tea, since I dilute it with water, maybe 1.5 to two liters. I don't use any sugar, not since I was a little boy.
