It's Deck Day

Happy Sunny Saturday! it's gorgeous here today. The sun is shining and it's going to be hot. Hopefully not too humid but it will definitely feel like summer.
The guy just arrived to work on the deck. Hallelujah
He texted last night and said he'd be here around 10am and he is right on the money. It will probably take a few hours for him to get the work done but I'm so excited about it being finished.
My daughters just went to Target to do some shopping and then will come back for us to have lunch.
Looks like a busy day here
I like busy days especially when they're happy busy.

That is amazing they are showing up early and ready to work.
Hot here terrible roasting heat and no AC(slum wont fix and has not for over 2 yrs), but I had to order expensive evap coolers..
Hope they work if not I can return.
I hope you have a lovely weekend now Marilyn and that the deck will be finished.
Maybe youll share a photo of it.

Imagine someone who has work ethics and shows up on time!! it's certainly great when so many workers promise to come and don't show up on time or even the day. Yes I'll be happy to have it done so that it's no longer an eye sore and then we can put the furniture out there and enjoy it this summer.
Hope your evap coolers work for you. It's sad you have to deal with no a/c

I felt bad for the guys doing the deck in the beating sun and heat. I watched from inside in the a/c

@HazySue they survived the heat. I had plenty of cold water and Gatorade for them plus they had the hose outside and I noticed they would wet towels and put them on their heads. Still felt bad but they did a great job even though it was so hot. I would recommend them to anyone

Sounds like the deck will be great to sit on and enjoy in the summer. I am never here on Saturdays. It is the Jewish Sabbath so I was sitting outside and my cat came out to get fresh air too. When it gets hot she goes back inside. I love warm weather and she does not.

That is a hard one. I used to spend more time outside but now I am busy with getting settled in our new home and taking care of business. Next I have to figure out how to get Sophie in her cage so she can get her shots from the vet.

I hope that it stays warm and doesn't get muggy so that the stain can dry perfectly, I know how much you were waiting for this project to be done.
It seems so odd to read of people just casually going out to do some shopping, here the non-essential stores are all closed except for some that have curb side pick up if you ordered online.
There is still no word as to when the province will reopen, although it was supposed to happen on June 2nd.
I really feel for those in the retail and hospitality sectors.

Seems as if everything here is opening quickly. I'm still being cautious about going out and doing things. We just got word that if you've had both vaccine shots then you don't have to wear a mask. Even though both my daughters are fully vaccinated they still keep wearing their masks.

I worked yesterday and will work today too. I have vacation coming starting father's day but expect to be busy most of that week too.
Did you get a new deck or just get some areas fixed? We need a new one ours is awful. We waited too long to paint it and it's falling apart. The wood is splintering off and one railing is higher than the rest.
The person that did the work used regular nails or screws rather than decking screws. We waiting until prices come down.
I should our a warning on it so no one gets slivers but I'm probably the only one that hands on while using the ramp.

My deck needed some boards replaced. Then it was power washed and sanded then stained. It would have been expensive to have to replace the whole thing so I'm glad it was mostly staining that needed attention.

@CarolDM I guess they're used to it but I had plenty of cold water and Gatorade for them to drink. PLus they would use the hose to wet towels and put them on their heads. Guess it kept their heads cool and from burning.
