Piles of Paper, Notebooks, Yellow Tablets!

For the last several weeks, I have been facing the prospect of dealing with that stuff, some hidden in a big grocery sack, others in not so neat piles on the floor around my desk (It's a good thing Anne is a very patient woman).. All this paper contains my scribblings over many years, some of which I have stored in more legible form on my computer, but much of it was the beginning of a story, or a poem, some finished and abandoned, some just started. So, I dug all this out of my big filing cabinet with the intent of going through it, separating the redeemable from the utter trash and beginning to rework the decent and discard the rest. I am not good at overwhelming tasks, more prone to leave them lying than to attack them. But, in the last few days, I have begun! I even found some possible gems that I intend to polish and submit to poetry contests. I did submit some the other day, but so did hundreds of other wannabes. It's a waiting game, like so much else in life. I will hear about results in maybe three months. So, on with the reading and the recycling of paper. Are you one of those people who tackle big jobs and get them done, or a procrastinator like I am?

Ohhhh, this definitely sounds like me right now. I have procrastinated dealing with it for much longer than weeks . . . my stuff, 2 kids' stuff, and some of Hubby's stuff. Right now I'm separating all the stuff into manageable "piles" and throwing out what should have been thrown out long ago. Well, I'm not doing it right this second - I'm too busy myLotting .

@JamesHxstatic I don't know if I love the piles of stuff, but I do love them after they are finally gone .

I wish you joy with those poem fragments. I went through an old desk yesterday, sorting as you are, trying to let go of scribbles and parts of my history: a letter from Mom, poetry from daughter from past Mom's days. I tossed a little but kept much. I found short stories, too and they are in the Keeper Box.

I am very much a pro procrastinator and I would find that to be daunting.

First I procrastinate and than I get it all done really fast. All at once.

Filing cabinets too often become acceptable trash bins don't they? I go thru ours every couple of years and shred to try and keep things reasonably current, but its so easy to neglect doing that task. Good for you for getting yours done.

@JamesHxstatic I am sure he is, but he complains if I ask "at least to start".

We all hoard like this and we do try to get rid of it. My understanding is if I have not used that stuff for so many years then just trash them. No point in going through it

I'm a little bit of both. It depends on how I feel and where my energy levels are. If I have a huge burst of energy, then that's when I'll get a lot of chores done.

My mind gets scattered when I start looking at all this, especially if I like one.
