Today's Bloom: Minnie Pearl

Today I was greeted with a bloom from the Minnie Pearl lily. This bloom is one of the smaller lilies and is a pretty peach color. This is one of the new lilies I purchased last year and the first time it has bloomed. I am assuming it was named for the country star, Minnie Pearl. Do you remember seeing her on television back in the 60's and 70's Photo Credit: Photo Credit: © 2021 Karen Gros, All rights reserved

I remember seeing Minnie Pearl on the Southern Command Network (SCN) television show in Panama called "Hee Haw" which was a country and western variety show.

She was on the country variety television show Hee Haw. She wore a hat with a price tag hanging down the side as her signature piece.

It's that old age and your memory going!! But mine too, because I didn't remember the show she was on which was Hee Haw! My dad watched it every week. She always wore a hat with a price tag hanging down the side of it.

The flower is beautiful. I do know of Minnie Pearl she used to make me laugh. My assumption is like yours, it must have been named after her.

@HazySue I did a seach but didn't get anything back except for one name of a wife of the develper of the lily so not exactly what we were looking for. I'll be on the lookout now though.
