Little Miss Sunshine

Here is another photo of the little yellow chick that was taken about a week after the first one I showed you here earlier. She (we are being proactive on her sex) is starting to feather out nicely and is looking pretty. I am still considering changing my mind on her name. She is quite the character and raises enough rucus for 6 or more chicks! She is still shredding the paper at the bottom of her bin on a daily basis and I give up trying to keep it intact. I will change it daily but not every hour!! So Little Miss Sunshine may be Little Miss Bad Girl very soon! She just quieted down some as if she knew I was saying something threatening about her! I'm going back over to fill the Queen's water and food bowls. Photo Credit: © 2021 Karen Gros, All rights reserved

She's probably shredding the paper because she has nothing else to do. If shredding my paper liner was all I could find to do, you can bet I'd be making designs and throwing it out of my cage... Make the human do some work!

Well she had a friend a tied up washcloth to snuggle with when she was really little but it was getting a little too dirty cause she was standing on it instead of cuddling up so I just took it out. She keeps her pet working! Another post coming soon!

@DaddyEvil Yes a microfiber washcloth made a good snuggle buddy for the first week and a half! It was about the same height and everything.

@kareng A washcloth? Well, I guess that would work.

She looks like she's about to tip her food bowl over. You might be right about the name change.

@kareng We raised a little bantam chick once. She 'ruled the roost' in our house too despite being so small.

@JudyEv I am getting laughs daily with my hubby over there talking to her. "Little Chicken why do you keep tearing everything up? Little Chicken what are you doing sleeping? If you would sleep at night, you wouldn't be asleep right now, etc."

@DocAndersen That would be good excuse if she heard the news on a regular basis. I only turn it on like once a week, if that.

@kareng it may be that she struggles with the news, and rips the paper up to express her inability to process bad news!

@dfollin It is true! She is totally bad!! I changed waterers out tonight and I told my hubby that she will be on top of this one in no time. She has already managed to get out of the tub which is 24 inches tall when she was only like 2 inches tall!!

@kareng I remember a chick we had years ago. There were 6 of them and this one fought with the other 5. We thought it was a he so when it was big enough we decided to eat it. When we killed it, the interior was full of eggs. We should have waited and made her a special pen.

I love her. It's so much fun learning their personalities. It will be interesting when she does get moved to the big chicken coop. I think she will be standing up for herself very well and won't take any abuse off the elders in the pecking order.

She gets plenty of attention. Tonight hubby went over and said, "Little Chick Chick, turn those chirp chirps off and go to bed! That was right before 1 am.
