Ooh, the forecast doesn’t look good for tomorrow. Looking at the radar, we’d better putt fast today! But what else can we do? It’s our nature. There was that year of the finals in Richmond, Indiana where we were wrapped up because it unexpectedly got down into the high 40s. But this is MUSIC, and music you shall have. Why yes, I did, thanks for noticing! And speaking of noticing, did you notice the song title in it? It’s well-hidden, I must say, because the background singers utter it. I have to say I don’t “get” Pet Sounds by The Beach Boys. I guess it’s a product of its time (1966), but i don’t see anything all that “great” about it. And that’s despite the fact that one of my all-time favorite songs, “Sloop John B.,” is on it! And, well, “Caroline, No.” Brian Wilson said it’s his favorite song from Pet Sounds. It’s a sentimental song about lost youthful innocence; or, as Wilson put it, “b*tchy hardened adults” who grow up out of “sweet little girls.” So when Neil talks about how The Beach Boys might have his car (“Long May You Run” was written about his first car) in the final verse you hear the background singers invoke “Caroline, No.” Great moves all around!
