Too much

It's one of those mornings when I understand a little why drinking to the point of stupor is attractive to some. I touch Sonny James' fur coat lightly, feel his purr and God I am grateful. How old is he? He ran into our house just after New Years so long ago. Snow and ice and a scrawny, quite ill kitten. He must be going on what? Fourteen or fifteen years.
Yesterday I was ready to block my hubby's nieces on Facebook cause they weren't saying boo to him. I found that they had blocked me. One of them has the job of working in a domestic violence organization. Yeah. The irony. Hubby said to me, "How can I miss what I never had?" His family has erased him.
I tried to call his other sister. Got the usual automatic message. She'll not call me back.
That elderly grandma continues to be missing. And missed. Some day most likely they will find her in a ditch and say goodbye. God speed.
I did manage to reach one of my sisters and she did answer me. We had a good talk. That felt warm and comforting. I needed the talk, the sun about gone from the sky, the neighbor's black and white cows milling around per usual.
So instead of a stiff drink today I will continue to say hello to Sonny James and yes I will tell Rufus to quit barking. Sonny J's purrs are a blessing for sure.

@rebelann It's weird and may be predator behavior- when I see this from Rufus I yell and stop him. He is not doing it as much as when we first got him. Anyway, he goes up to a cat and bites the back of their neck. Freaks me out. He has also flipped Fred over when he sees Fred cat sleeping on the bed- like he is going for the belly. That behavior gets a startled yell from me. Sonny J. has slapped him a dozen times. Stubborn Rufus. He is not doing these scary behaviors as much now.

@RebeccasFarm It's just tough and you are sweet. Too many unanswered questions- did I do something? If so, what? Tell me straight out. But they won't. The cowards.

I love the sound and feel of a cat's purr. Or, when they pick me to cuddle against.

@kaylachan Yes on that cuddling against. Often Sonny J. is near me at night. You are right. It feels good.

You have given Sonny J a loving home. He is a faithful companion to you.
Sad to hear about your husband's family. I can relate unfortunately.
Life is too short for anyone to have these crazy behaviors.
Give a pat to Rufus and a neck rub to Sonny J for me.

@TheHorse Good question, Doc. I don't have a clue just guesses and maybes. Maybe their Grandma, my husband's Mother, told them some stories about us. Maybe something to do with their Mother. I would like to know more but they have decided to block me and thus my hubby out of their life.

@TheHorse I have not talked with these folks since daughter was a toddler and she is 42 now. So I don't know. I do find them to be 'plastic' people- interested in expensive purses more than thoughts. His Mother never accepted me. It's beyond awful.

Sorry about that. you did the right thing by taking him in so what is their problem? My cat has been sick and it looks like she has gained some weight so happy about that. I love her to bits and love her puurs too. Furry ones are very amazing.

Unfortunately this is the sad tale of many families, including my own; but you can always count on your fur babies. Give them a pet from me.

Sometimes communing with your pets is the best thing you can do..sadly, Nico isn't much of a communer..but I am sure she will get a bit friendlier as the weather turns cool.

Instead of the hard stuff to deal with problems, I like to sip Baileys while I drink coffee. It's calming.
