I´m darning a pair of cozy slippers.

Many years ago, when I went to Valdivia (in the South) to see my sister, I bought a pair a cozy slippers hand knitted with very thick lamb wool. They are not as good as they were now but if I darn a couple of holes, they will be good as new. I washed them, I´ll darn them and I´ll take them to Dixie´s house the next time I go there. The worst thing about this winter is that we take off our shoes when we get into the houses. We don´t want any virus to get via the soles of our shoes. I then add another pair of socks to the ones I have, but it is not enough. I think these ones will help. Do you take off your shoes now or do you spray the shoe soles?

Where my daughter lives, in Minnesota, they have always taken off their shoes as it keeps the house cleaner.

it must help. But where I live what is worst as dirt goes is a fine dust that I have to clean every day.

I have always taken my shoes off, I never walk inside the house wearing the shoes that I wear outside. At the entrance we keep our home shoes.

@LadyDuck Most of those things are cultural. We have had to change our ways with the covid.

@marguicha It was what all Italians living in an apartment did since I was a kid. As soon as you arrive at home you switch shoes.

We don't wear shoes in the house. It's common in Asia household to do that. But some would provide indoor shoes.

I did that for the few people who visited me when I was on chemo.

Quite a lot of people here take their shoes off when they go inside or they change to different shoes when they go inside. I don't know any that worry about the virus being on their shoes but it's something to think about.

It is not the use here. I suppose it has to do with the weather. We just clean our shoes on a mat when we go inside.

We don't take off our shoes or spray them. We are careful in other ways though.

When I enter my own house, or before I enter my own house, my shoes come off. I do this and always have virus or no. I have only removed my shoes in other people's homes, if I were asked to, or knew I'd be staying for more than a few hours.

What do the time have to do with it?

I have always removed my shoes when entering a home. We keep slippers here for guests. We have been this way since we got married, it's routine. My wife knitted herself some gloves with one fingertip exposed so she could keep her hands warm and still internet lol.

I have wonderful mitts that leave the fingers out. They are very warm.

I have not gone out in a long time now, Back in Latvia even though it was not the time of pandemic of course our floors would get very cold in the winter so to keep feet warm and be able to walk about in comfortable socks we wore two sets of hand-knitted wool socks,
