I think I will make hummus

I keep saying I want to make hummus, but do not get around to it. Well, I have drained the canned chickpeas and just need to put the ingredients into the food processor. It will be easy. Then, I think I will go to bed. Hummus is a good snack for me.

I love hummus, I peel the chickpeas and this makes a big difference in the final taste. The tahini is easy to made starting from sesame seeds.

I have had it with the peeled chickpeas, but I do not usually take the time.

@GardenGerty I like the texture more if I peel the chickpeas.

We love hummus, but yah, I always buy it premade . I made it once - and as it required a teeny bit of tahini (the sesame paste), I bought the smallest jar I could, but most of it all went to waste. I really should tackle making it again .

@sallypup Oh my gosh, I often do have sesame seeds on hand (for Japanese cooking) . . . I didn't even think to do that. Is it straight seeds - do you add anything to it? Thank you!!

@much2say I experiment when I cook. If you don't like how the seeds are grinding in the blender add a dollop of oil and see what happens.

@much2say If you don't mind a bit of crunch you can just mix in whole sesame seeds instead of tahini. Or if you have a blender, try rough mashing the sesame in there.

I'm like that, too. I'm always putting one thing or another off.

Hummus is tasty. My husband's version is very garlicky.

I put termieric and cumin in it, but should do garlic as well. Keeps bugs and virus's away.

@sallypup I maybe just forgot because I just make it from memory. I may go stir some garlic into this batch.

If you already have the ingredients ready then it should be super easy. I often intend to make some but starting with dried chickpeas takes a long time.

I just start with the canned. My sister is given lots of cans of chickpeas in some senior disbursements and will not use them. They come live in my pantry.

It is something that works well with gluten free and high fat diets. I think it is an acquired taste, though.
