I was taught to never, NEVER dispose the masks with the thingies to put in your ears.
We have to cut off the the bands that hold the masks on our ears.
If we don´t, depending on where the masks are thrown, they could harm fish or birds.
It is not hard at all to cur the bands. Please do it.

That is what I do as well.
I cut the ear loops and I cut the mask in half as well.

@marguicha
This is the reason why I want to switch to reusable and washable cloth masks. However, those do not offer enough protection so I wear two masks - a surgical one and a cloth mask on top.

I have disposable masks. And I don´t use them often because I´m alone at home.

@marguicha Oh yes, I think I have some disposable masks also here but I often use the cloth mask when going out. Just like you, we do not wear masks inside the house

@marguicha We can only dispose of our garbage in the official bags of the city where we live. The bags are sold in the local supermarkets in different sizes. We place the sealed bags in the garbage containers on the main street, there are many so that people have easy access to them.

I have seen many throw them away without doing that. It needs to be done

We have even seen masks thrown in the street when we go for a walk

The same goes for those plastic thingies that hold pop cans and bottles. You must cut them apart.

I know. I have seen documentaries on TV where birds and fish are tangled in them.

Yes, we pull them off the masks when we're done using them...
