Have You Ever Bought a Book This Way?

Most of the time, I will look at the title, and then read what the author wants you to know about the story and then look to see what other people have said about the book. And then I would decide. But not with one book that I'm going to tell you about this morning. It's called "The Sorcerers Cookbook" and it was THE COVER that I fell in love with. I have thumbed through it out of curiosity and the recipes I could never attempt. The ingredients, were a bit bizarre, like dandelion fluff and morning dew, but I LOVED THAT COVER. It was a large book, with a golden brown front and back cover with gold writing and I could easily picture it sitting on my bakers rack. And it sits there to this day on a plate rack so that it's the first thing you see lol! So, I want to know if you have ever bought a book because of it's cover. I'm expecting most of you will say no lol, on the other hand, there might be some pretty good stories wanting to be told!

The classic My Friend Flicka had a sweet, golden cover of Flicka the horse and her boy.

@Hate2Iron It's a lovely study of the relationship between a military Dad and his softer son.

No, I've always read the back of the book and then started on the first chapter... If, by the end of the first chapter, I wasn't interested in reading more, then I didn't buy the book. Sometimes the cover is what caught my attention and made me read the back and the first chapter, though. Just as often, I choose a book to read because I recognized the author's name. Hmm... do you ever read ebooks? The house my daughter and I moved into almost three years ago is half the size of the house we moved out of so we've had to pack away all of our paper and ink books to make enough room for us to be in the house... If you would like, I'll tell you the name of the ebook site I use.

@Hate2Iron The site is b-ok.cc You can download five free ebooks in 24 hours or, if you give them your email address, they'll let you download 10 free ebooks in 24 hours. I have the Kindle app on my phone, my tablet and on my laptop. I download the .mobi file from that site and upload it to the Kindle Cloud. You set up the Kindle app on each device to the Kindle Cloud (Each app will ask for your Cloud link.) and can read the ebooks on whichever device you want. It will even keep track of what page you've read on the Cloud so each device is in sync. If, by chance, the ebook I want doesn't have the .mobi file for it, I download the .epub file and then use an online ebook converter to change that to the .mobi file and continue like normal. There are several series I'm following right now and get them as soon as the author puts them on the site. If you have any trouble, I'd be happy to help you, assuming I know how to do whatever you need. I hope you enjoy the site as much as I do.

Hm not really. I almost always will read the back of the book, if it's a random book that I just happen to find by chance. But I'm more of the type that looks for specific books that I want, so maybe that's why.

The cover of a book certainly influences me as to whether I buy it or not.

Sure. Sometimes a cover is intriguing. That's why the publisher/writer chose it!

Yes. I did bought a book by seeing it's cover. Your description of the cover is tempting. Can you share the cover picture with us?

When we first bought our microwave, I bought a cooking book because the cover was so inviting. YOu know what? I never used even one recipe.
