Are You a Pie or a Cake Kind of Person?

I was thinking of what to write about and it occurred to me in my own family, we all have definite preferences. My son for example would turn down any kind of cake for a lemon meringue pie. Our daughters are both cake lovers, although one in particular prefers the texture of brownies over any other kind of cake. My mom was also a pie lover... coconut cream to be exact. I don't care for pies at all. Give me a strawberry short cake and you would have turned my day around!!
You can see just how hard it is to make dessert for any group of people lol.
Now it's your turn... what's your preference??

Wouldn't a sponge be really chewy, no matter what kind of icing you put on it?

I like whatever I don't have to make myself.
I prefer pecan pie but will eat most fruit pies, too. I like white cake with icing on it... 
Any kind of icing.

@paigea The recipe I used makes two pecan pies. OMG! It's good! 
Now I want pecan pie... *sigh* They're also very fattening.

Pies all the way. Any kind of pie (except pumpkin) I will eat it. My mother was the same way. On one of her milestone birthdays we had a party and everyone brought a pie and we put tall skinny candles in the pies. I like cake and I love brownies, but pie is always my first choice. Cake is usually too sweet with all it's frosting and fillings.

@Hate2Iron Frosting them at home is much more different than the store bought cupcakes. They are way to sweet with way too much frosting.

My daughter feels the same regarding cakes and simply doesn't frost it at all lol... I sometimes wonder if she belongs to me !

I would say cake, especially, chocolate dobash or german chocolate cake or black forest cake. But I love macadamia nut cream pie.
