My Thrilling Vacation!!!

Okay, it wasn’t a vacation. It wasn’t a way to spend a day. I was nauseous last night. This morning I woke up with some nasty left flank pain. Given the family history of kidney stones, I trudged off to the hospital. I won’t keep you in suspense: they said there were no kidney stones; or, more precisely, no signs of kidney stones. Urine, blood, and CT scans were all fine. Oh, well, I didn’t have anything else planned to do today, anyway. I mean, it’s raining with the former hurricane passing by, so what was there to do in the first place? I have to say that the staff at the Veterans Hospital were great. It’s not always the actual “hands-on” people I have problems with. I always say the “a” in the VA is the major pain in the A. There are plenty of departments in the hospital that work splendidly. I also made certain to thank my nursing staff. They’re always saying “thank you for your service” to me. Well, they are the ones on the front lines now, as they have been for the past year and a half with covid. All in all, it was mentally rewarding (no kidney stones, and they did a covid test which came back negative, so that is nice to know!), but definitely not my best vacation ever. I’ll have to go somewhere else! (With apologies to Dylan) How does it feel? Like a kidney stone!

Good news. A gazillion years ago I wound up in ER due to extreme pain. Was diagnosed with kidney stones and prescribed enough Vicodin and Percocet to set up shop. Never took them and the stones passed without me ever noticing. It was a gallstone attack. Guess they didn’t look high enough. Several years later I had that sucker removed. That was a pain like no other.

I got rid of mine before I could have gallstones. They said mine was only functioning at about 19%, so I said “out she comes.” And out she went.

Doing a lot better. In fact, I didn’t take one of my meds for a couple of days, and I’ve noticed a change. Don’t know if that means anything…..

I know what you mean. I mean about the hospital thing. That's the last place I want to be. Hope you resolved the pain issue, though.

I'm glad you're okay and hopefully, feeling better tonight. I was wondering where the great pictures were from your "vacation" but am willing to pass them up this time.

Glad everything is good. But I can think of many ways to spend a day better than that.

Oh, wow! I’m very glad you don’t have kidney stones or covid, but what’s up with pain? You really need a better vacation. You chose on of my many favorite Dylan songs. And thank you for your service! Feel better soon
