Funny how musicians can find different areas of the body to use as inspiration for a song title. They use the senses like your eyes, limbs like arms and legs, and other pieces of your anatomy from head to toe. Quite a creative way to come up with a tune! So, this trivia series contains songs with some musical "body art," hope you enjoy them...
For our first selection were starting right at the "top" with some real "hairy tunes." Enjoy the Broadway version of this song from the cast of "Hair."
And now for some other songs I'd like to "get out of my hair."
Time To name that tune and the artists who recorded them- Whodunnit?
(Remember words in quotations can provide hints to the music trivia answers)
Trivia Clues:
1. This "Family band" was the inspiration behind the TV show "The Partridge Family. " The group consisted of "six siblings" and their mother. This American singing family had great success with their "cover of this tune," the track reaching #2 on the record charts. The song was the "title track" from a controversial "1968 Broadway musical" about the "Hippie era." From 1968 through 1972, the band played an average of 200 performance dates per year, and were among the most popular acts on the American concert circuit. You might recall another #2 hit song the family had success with called "The Rain, The Park & Other Things." It sold over one million copies and was awarded a gold record.
Fun fact: This pop group even had their own comic book published by Harvey Comics in 1968.
-Do you know the name of this musical family and their remake of this broadway song about hippies?
2. This single reached the top spot on the charts in 1975. The group consisted of a "trio" whose harmonies and acoustic playing fit right in with the rise of the "soft rock" sound. This tune was a relationship song , which consisted of these lyrics: "I ain't ready for the altar but I do agree there's times, When a woman sure can be a friend of mine." "Part of the song title" is a "name of a precious metal (ore) or it could also be a color." Another "part of the title" is a word which is the "opposite of brother." This band's name is the same as a country. The trio had another #1 hit with their first single, "A Horse With No Name," in 1972.
Fun Fact: One of the members left the band in 1977 after becoming a Born Again Christian. He went on to record religious records while the others continued as a duo.
-Do you know the name of this soft-rock band and their "hair tune?"
3. This 1970 tune was an "anthem to the hippie culture." The artist who wrote this song, with his "long hair and a walrus mustache," was clearly part of the counterculture movement. Wearing long hair is a dilemma faced by many hippies in trying to fit into society at that time for it represents a symbol of rebellion. This famous line from the song "let my freak flag fly" is a statement of that rebellion. This "supergroup" was considered a success from the start, with band members coming from Buffalo Springfield, The Byrds, and The Hollies. The "four" folk rock artists when performing together, were eventually referred to by the music business and their fans "by the initials of their last name."
Fun Fact: One of the band members was taught how to play lead guitar by the great Jimi Hendrix.
-Do you know the band with 4 initials for a name and their hippie song?
Ok, let's "not have a bad hair day" when solving these song and artist answers. If your stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. Or as Randy Newman would say, "You've Got A Friend In Me."
Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with another music trivia version next Saturday...

@lovebuglena Ok, The song titles all had the word hair which was the theme of the quiz as you can see from the answers. No reason to pull your "hair" out over it (just kidding).. Guess this quiz was not your cup of tea, no worries here.
Thanks for dropping by!

Yes, that Broadway show produced quite a few songs covered by other artists which became hits! "Hair" by The Cowsills (our trivia answer for #1), "Let The Sunshine In/Age of Aquarius" by The 5th Dimension, and "Good Morning Sunshine" by Oliver (which I still hear on Oldies radio by the way).
Looks like a bad hair day for you
You'll get um' next time

@RasmaSandra Oh, that was a song by David Crosby. Neil Young recently said that was Crosby at his musical best.
Very much a protest song and a reflection of the times. Have a listen...

#1 I watched the Partridge Family every week. I thought that was the family name. I know it starred David Cassidy and Shirley Jones among others. I don't know the tune you refer to though, not surprising there.
#2 No idea about this one.
#3 The only name to come to mind is Willy Nelson, though I don't think he has a walrus mustache. Besides, I think he's a country artist, so I don't think he fits.

The Partridge family was a good show and one I often watched too. There was a real family they based it on called The Cowsills. Do you ever remember hearing there song before (video).
Sometimes these music quizzes can be a "hair raising" experience
