So, So True!

This afternoon I had a little time between dental appointments (a cleaning and the bridgework) at the VA hospital, so I used the time to take a little walk around the building for exercise.
Along the walk I was able to stop and fully appreciate the Gallopalooza horse that is on the VA grounds.
"Gallopalooza" is an occasional fundraising/art event in Louisville. It's modeled after other similar events in other cities (such as Cincinnati and their pigs), with a horse theme to focus on our main event around here, the Kentucky Derby. The sculptures are painted to raise money for Operation Brightside, our "clean-up-the-city" project.
This particular horse is titled No Less a Thoroughbred. It is painted in camouflage similar to what a soldier might wear. The horse's front left leg is prosthetic, to pay tribute to the countless men and women who have returned from military service less than whole.
As any veteran will tell you, military service is completely different from anything else in this world. And, as many disabled veterans will also tell you, not all the wounds inflicted are visible, noticeable, and easily recognizable.
But we're "No Less a Thoroughbred."
So, so true!
I'm sure glad I took that walk between appointments today!

We’ll take out out to lunch! (Of course, if you read our posts you know it’ll probably be Mexican or barbecue.
