Those of you who have travelled to work by train will understand this better. We meet the same people every day as we have fixed working hours. We make friends with some. We make groups. And some we avoid just like how we block users here.
With some we exchange emails, visit their homes and become family. But once we give up working they just stay in our memory just like what happens here at myLot.
Are you still in touch with those users who no longer are active here?

I think there are 4 people I added as friends elsewhere. Wolfie, Owl Wings, PikeFish, and a lady whose name I can't recall! If I remember, Wolfie was on another blog site (maybe Yahoo 360 or something like that) and now we're Facebook friends. The lady whose name I forgot did join me on Facebook for a short period, but disappeared before I had a chance to get to know her there. Owl Wings is still here on myLot but I'm also Facebook friends with him. Pikey doesn't come here or to Facebook these days, but I do keep in touch with him and have met him in real life a couple of times.
I've also got family who used to come here but never came back after the changes, and I have a friend who was already my real life friend who posted only one discussion - he has since disappeared from my real life as well.

@allknowing it's not too difficult as I don't have many other friends

That's a great analogy. As long as we're not thinking of the London underground of course - if you dare to even look anyone in the eye there you're practically at risk of being arrested!
I have no way of contacting people I 'know' through MyLot, in any other way. There are a few people who have disappeared and I wonder what happened to them. One was in Nepal and after the earthquake there they were never seen again.

I remember in the old days, I used to have a lot of discussion with you and the other guy, ady/adhy/ady i forgot his name (the one who works as a civil servant), mrs Iffa too, I wish they are healthy and come back again later. It's nice to make friends in mylot.

NO. There had been lots of friends whom I met here and with the time they left the site and we were not able to meet anywhere else.
Except for few people whom I used to meet on the other sites. And now they are not on them. @suni51 is one such member who was too close to me but for the last few years, he is not in touch. Hope he is doing well wherever he is.

I have no access to other means to stay in touch with mylot users other than mylot. So, when they are missing here, I have no way to contact them. Sometimes other mylot users post about their missing friends and I get the update.

Mylot is a great place to hang out, I had a lot of fun with so many members here but I don't have their contact outside this site. Some members are still here, but there are members I don't see anymore. I miss EchoRain, there's also an Australian lady I forgot her username, and then the Vietnamese girl who studied in Korea she is funny and her discussion always cheerful, I wish them healthy and happy.
