Polvoron in the jar

One of the classic desserts that I love is polvoron. It is made from toasted flour, powdered milk, sugar, and butter. It can also be added with other flavors such as nuts, rice crispies, and chocolate cookies. This is very easy to prepare. Instead of using cut glassine paper or water cellophane to pack the molded polvoron, I put it in a jar. The one shown in the photo are classic flavor and the other one has crushed toasted peanuts. Last week, there were cookies and cream flavor which I also like. I asked my niece which flavor is better between classic flavor and cookies and cream and she chose the classic while I chose the latter.

I never heard of polvoron, but this seems to be an interesting combination of flavors.

It's so easy for somebody with your cooking skills, grade school students here even learn to make it in school, just learn the basic base first and you could play around with the different variation of flavors later on, there are lots of videos on how to make it

@louievill The base is easy, toasted flour is sold in stores here, so it would not be a problem to prepare the base. I would surely not add peanuts because I have a serious allergy to those legumes, but I like most other nuts.

@ZedSmart Polvorones are Spanish Christmas cookies. I have never seen the shortbread called Plovoron, even if I have been to Spain many times. Polvorones are also popular in Mexico.

That sounds interesting and I have all the ingredients to make it. I think I'll try doing that today. If it turns out well, I'll take a photo and show you... If it doesn't, I'll not mention it again.

@ZedSmart Yes. I used to sell polvoron before but I buy from a well known maker of that kind. Have you heard of Chocovron? It is a tasty polvoron with different flavors and coated with chocolate

We also make our own but just buy from time to time when we are lazy. So how will you eat that if it's packed in a jar? By using a teaspoon and " platito" ( small plate) ?
