A Funny Autocorrect?

I was texting my cousin yesterday and in my text message I wrote: I was at 718 Bistro recently... That's the name of a restaurant. After I sent the message and read it this is what was actually sent: I was at 718 Bistro Cemetery... Cemetery is nowhere near the spelling of "recently." I wonder why my iPhone's autocorrect feature decided that "cemetery" was the word I wanted to type. Have you ever had your cell phone correct something you were typing with something else, something that was funny or weird?

Yikes! Picnic at a cemetery ? LOL--my computer always tells me that the town I live in is spelled wrong; when it's not.

Does it change the spelling to something else?

Picnic at a cemetery would definitely be a unique experience.

@lovebuglena No, but there's a red line under it every time that's supposed to tell me I've spelled it "wrong", and suggests a bunch of other words I should have written.

I got tired of the mistakes my phone kept putting into my texts so shut autocorrect off.

@lovebuglena I'd rather have misspellings instead of the totally wrong word in texts I send.

@DaddyEvil yeah. I guess that’s better.

I shut that feature off at one point but then I noticed too many misspellings as buttons too small for my fingers. Very easy to hit the wrong key.

I sometimes experienced this situation at random when using my mobile phone's autocorrect.

Haha. Bistro would be a weird name for a cemetery.

No, it’s never happened to me. When I’m typing discussions here, I see some.crazy words jump in that I have to correct.

I don't have a smartphone; and I've never had anything like that happen. That would be annoying!

Sometimes the autocorrect funny but sometimes it’s not. It can be confusing and it can maybe hurt someone’s feelings.

True. I sometimes turn on the microphone feature and speak my text. It doesn’t always transcribe what I actually said.

I have all of the time. I know I can't spell, but sometimes it'll auto-correct and I'm not aware of it.

Sometimes I want to turn the autocorrect feature off. But then I'd probably have a lot of misspelled words as the phone keys are small and it's easy to hit the wrong button.

Yes, it happens especially when we type the name of a person/city, etc. It's better to check the message before sending it.

Definitely a good idea to check before sending. Sometimes you can end up offending someone accidentally.

Yes. Sometimes it's funny. Sometimes it's not funny at all so I turned off that feature.
