Good day to you all, Hope you all are doing well. I am feeling much better so that is a good thing. Another busy day today at work and the time few by. So, I was reading that the Rolling Stones are pulling a classic song from their set list on their current tour. They have pulled the song “Brown Sugar” from the list due to it referring to slavery. Now I’m no expert nor am I part of the band, but I never seen it as a pro slavery song. I never even paid that close attention to the first part of the song. I thought it was about something totally different which I can’t mention here. I guess the lyrics that is making it and issue is the beginning of the song. “Gold coast slave ship bound for cotton fields Sold in a market down in New Orleans Scarred old slaver knows he's doing alright Hear him whip the women just around midnight” So, I guess we can’t even mention slavery, or it has to be banned or taken down. We must make sure that there is no history mentioning it at all. I do find it funny that they named their tour, “No Filter Tour”, yet they are now going to filter themselves.

I was disgusted reading about that..this cancel shite has got to go. And by doing that, the Stones are only making the song more popular and treasured. I am glad I have the tshirt and saw them do it too.

Yeah, I seen them years ago and it was a great concert. Agree, canceling everything that bothers some people is getting out of hand. Lets forget our past so we can repeat it later when we forget about all the bad past things that happened.

Come on if anyone does not like the song that the Rolling Stones sing since the lyrics have slavery overtones, what about rap artists that use racial slurs and insult women? We cannot have it both ways.

@Bensen32 It bothers me since I have been advised that anything that comments from a song that offends should be ignored and not allow the lyrics to offend anyone due to freedom of speech.

@Deepizzaguy Yeah, I guess over time that freedom is being taken away.

The world we live in is full of bs like that. Sad really. It's like today's generation isn't supposed to know where we came from as a people. All they'll learn is how to live in fear.

@kaylachan Yeah, to many of them waited it out and maybe if they were smart put some of that money aside but so are going to be out of luck. There are lots of places hiring if they are willing to take those jobs that are open.

I remember very well that song and the lyrics and I think that this is why they say it has something to do with slavery. I would have not pulled it out, this politically correctness is becoming more and more ridiculous. I am glad you feel better.

@Bensen32 We need to be free to say what we think, the past is past and what happened happened, where is the problem talking about that?

I saw that headline yesterday or today. I've honestly never listened to the lyrics of that song particularly closely. I can see why it would be offensive to African-Americans. It is a good song but probably should be retired.

I have to disagree with you. How about if it is offensive to someone they just not listen to it? Why is it we need to hide our history? Isn't there a saying something to the effect of learn from our past to be come better people? If we go around hiding everything in our past are we not bound to repeat them? I mean if we ban or git rid of everything that offends someone we will have nothing left.

@JimBo452020 It has gotten way out of hand, I can't even keep up with everything they are trying to do away with. But then you listen to some of this rap music and they are dropping the F word every two seconds, talking about women being "hoes" and saying the "N" word constantly and that is okay.

I was disgusted to read this. A great classic song written many years ago. Whatever is what I say. Don't listen if it offends.
