Striking close to home

We have had a death in our school family, a COVID death. Her young, lively little spirit will be missed. She was a reading specialist. Her husband is a coach. Her dad and mom are still critically ill--they pastor a church. Did she catch it at school, or at worship services? Did she catch it at home? I do not know. There will be counseling for all the kids and staff at school who need it.

Sorry for the lost. If I may ask: was she vaccinated. In our country people refuse to get vaccinated and the number of new casses increases

I am sorry for your community's loss. It is frustrating that people are behaving as though this pandemic is over. It isn't. There will continue being stories like this for many months to come.

We tend to take an isolationist point of view. It can't happen here, until it doess.

@GardenGerty I'm in a city, so "couldn't happen here" shouldn't be the view, but it seems (especially in this building) that it's party time. It concerns me for my household's health, because we have unmasked people trotting through the building day and night, and the management does nothing real to address it.

It takes hard work and cooperation to do away with a disease. I am just afraid that another one may be waiting in the wings.

@DaddyEvil Right. When I was a kid I remember when the polio vaccines were developed. They opened up the school cafeteria and we went down the line and got our sugar cubes. Before that I remember that at enrollment we got small pox vaccines, and our hearing and vision were tested. They even had us do a urine sample for diabetes.

@GardenGerty That's possible... and we know there won't ever be cooperation on getting rid of Covid.

It is sad, and I do not know if we will know where she caught it. Maybe at church. The virus lurks everywhere.

@GardenGerty that is actually the problem, on how to trace the virus even if they do contact tracing, it will still be difficult

Children are less susceptible to Covid as I have heard, but here it snatched a young soul from some parents' embrace. RIP.

We have had a number of children get ill, but this was a young woman, should have been healthy. May or may not have been vaccinated.
