Successful Day

I spent the day (Friday) going to Baton Rouge, LA. I picked up one of my daughters and we went to visit my mother in the nursing home. She was doing so-so. We almost didn't get an appointment and the social worker asked me to make appointment for tomorrow and I just told her that I wouldn't be in town tomorrow. I asked if she could squeeze us in for just 15 minutes. (They never time anyone and have never run us out after an hour so I knew we would get longer.) She asked me if I could do outside visitation and I told her if that was all that was available I would take it. We got there and my mom was sitting inside waiting on us. The social worker let us in after we had checked in at the other entrance to the nursing home. Then you have to walk around the building. They have this all set up screwy!
We had a nice visit and then left after my mom got a little tired. We went and had a quick lunch and on to the house. My daughter got in the attic and searched for her Christmas tree that my mother in law had given them. They also had another tree in the attic that was her boyfriend's mothers. So we got both of them and her decorations for the tree down and a lighted reindeer. She was happy but not happy to find that her boyfriend had put the trees at the far end of the attic.
All in all she was happy. She found the tree she wanted and we loaded up the back of my van. She pretty much filled it up! I dropped her off after he boyfriend unloaded the van and headed back home.
How was your day today?

@kareng I guess I am a whiner. It's about 15 miles into town so taking hubby to the doc appointment, waiting for him there, then taking him to work for three hours, going home and going back. Yo yo day. I sure was grateful for our friend helping out.

@sallypup I totally get it. Back when I was working I would leave the office one hour early to come home and pick up the girls so the oldest could go to gymnastics which was on the LSU campus where I worked. She had worked her way into the feeder program where she would be ready for the gymnastics team there in college after graduation. I would then go back to my office with the twins to put in my final hour. Then go back to the gym to pick her up/wait for their session to be over and head back home. We would usually pick up dinner on the way home. This was twice a week and got old. We were always back there for meets on Saturday or at aonther gym and went to the college competitions on Friday nights. I sure could have used a closer to campus location to live! We were about 18 miles away. I put a lot of miles on that car!

She gave me the appointment and said they were booked up but that wasn't true. I guess she felt guilty since my mom was waiting for us inside--and she let us stay inside. We also stayed longer than 15 minutes and nobody else showed up for any visitation inside or out. Than can do both at one time.

Glad you got to see your mom and found the Christmas decorations and trees. I got to visit with two of my cousins from Virginia when they came for the day to visit our uncle who has Alzheimers.

I'm glad that you were able to visit your Mom. I'm sorry she didn't feel better. I'm glad your daughter now has the Christmas tree that she wanted. My day was OK.
