Pumpkin's Positive Post: The Audition

United Kingdom

Hello again (I say 'again as if to assume you've seem my rant today). Yesterday, which was Saturday, my husband (D) and I took our son (Mini) to London. We're not fans of London. Mini had been offered an audition with a casting agency. Most auditions for things he wants to do are held in London or other places that are far away/hard to get to. As this was at a weekend and we had nothing else planned, I said he could go. Now I'm not letting a 16 year old travel down to London by himself so I went with him. I'm also unfamiliar with London and worried about using the underground and getting to where we needed to be so that's why my husband also came with us. The audition was actually in Hammersmith. We had to start out just after 8am to get to the audition in time. We arrived at about 11:10am. We got a little lost and confused trying to find the right underground line at Euston. Euston is a horrible place. We got on the underground to Hammersmith. We actually got on the wrong train but we could easily change at the next stop (I like that about the underground). We dropped Mini off at his audition while D and I went to get a coffee. It seems a lot of Hammersmith is closed on a Saturday (or at least doesn't open until after 12) but we wandered to a lovely little coffee shop called Coffee Station. Mini texted me to say he had finished the audition early. Hammersmith seemed safe and quiet enough for me to trust him to find us - we were still in the same street anyway - so I told him which way to turn from the agency door and D went to meet him as he'd finished his coffee. Mini said the audition went well and that he'll know on Tuesday if he's been accepted by the agency. He's already with one agency (also based in London but his audition for them was online) and has a web page with them. Once we were done, D said we should head back home. As we had travelled that far for a short audition, and it was not even midday, I thought it would be nice to hang around for a while. It seemed there wasn't much to do in Hammersmith, although I discovered later that there are a few things to do. I said Mini could choose where to go for lunch. He wanted Subway but that was closed. We had seen a Taco Bell earlier (Mini asked if I was sure we were still in the right country as he didn't know we had Taco Bell here!) so he asked to go there. He had a volcano burrito, which he enjoyed. I had a crispy chicken burrito, and D had a taco. We're unlikely to go to Taco Bell again anyway as I don't know any local places that have them, but D and I wouldn't go out of our way for one. Getting back into Euston from Hammersmith was easy enough. We got the right train this time, although I almost headed towards the overground instead of the underground. I took Mini to the bookshop at Euston. He'd taken a book to read on the way down but finished it so I bought him a new one to read on the way back. We couldn't get a train home that went the way we came so had to go via a different local station where there was a rail replacement bus to our home town. Our journeys were smooth but for a little overcrowding on the 2nd train (we had to get the local train then the train to London) due to another train having been cancelled. We were lucky, though, that there had been seats available when we boarded. Oh and we almost got stuck in a lift at a local station at the beginning of the journey! We had a nice day, though. I feel like I've not said much about Mini's audition but there isn't much to say. The person holding the audition was called Nacho. I might pop back on Tuesday to let you know if Mini has been accepted. In other news, Mini has work experience tonight and tomorrow night as a scarer in a scare maze at a Halloween event. I've got a week off work. Tomorrow, Mini and I are meeting up with his friend and her mum. Tuesday is my little nephew's birthday, Thursday I'm having a girls' night and going for a curry with my best friend. I think that's about everything. What's going on in your world?

Thank you. Mini has always wanted to be an actor, and I've always wanted to encourage him to do that. I've not always had the means to do things like this but I'll always do whatever I can for him and for our other children (they're all older). Thursday will be the first time for a couple of years that it's just been us girls. I'm sure we'll have lots of fun. Bonus being that I don't have to be up the next morning!

in my world now, the sky is pouring down rain as a blessing from God. but unfortunately this solemn condition was accompanied by a daughter who berated her mother for forbidding the little girl to go out of the house promiscuity. really it made the mother's heart hurt to see the only girl against her and did not want to listen to her advice. He didn't even listen to his mother's advice, let alone my advice that he didn't give birth to him and feed him? let him be with his own ego. People like this little girl can only realize that mother's love has been lost, only regret, regret that is too late, she should love her mother from now on. I don't want to be like that, I love you mom. I hope I can love my mother all her life

That doesn't sound like a happy situation. I hope it improves.
