Fall is late this year.

I keep waiting for the leaves in the trees in my back yard to start changing color for fall... Pretty soon the cold from winter will just make them turn brown and fall off the trees without turning the beautiful fall colors first. Pretty and I were out driving around the countryside last week and hardly saw any trees that weren't summer green still. I'm sure this is killing the fall tourist season for the Ozarks. It was 34F (3C) when I got up at 5 am this morning... I didn't want to get out of bed. How about at your house? Are the leaves changing color for fall? Trees in my back yard. Photo is mine.

Yes, the leaves have changed color already here. They are beautiful now. I love those that turned fully red.

I think the color change would have already happened here if it was going to this year. I'll miss seeing the beautiful fall foliage this year.

Yes, we call it a Cedar but it's almost like a pine tree. There are a lot of trees in my back yard.

Our weather has been really weird. We had fall weather way into December. We got some snow then Christmas Eve we got hit pretty good. The trees around me were still acting like it was early fall.

@velvet53 Supposedly, as long as you don't go below -50F, it shouldn't have a problem... but if it's in a pot, I wouldn't want it's roots to freeze.

The trees here never did go colorful. After the second hard frost in late November, the leaves turned brown and a storm brought them down from the trees. I'm wondering if Spring is going to happen early or late this year.

Here we never get as much fall colored trees as further north, but what little change we get hasn’t arrived.

I wondered if the southern states changed as much as where I live in the Ozarks. (Missouri is considered a "southern" state by most of the nation, but we don't consider ourselves southern.)

What are you doing? I just got notifications from you for four or five of my older discussions. I love seeing the colorful leaves every fall. This year the leaves never changed until we had our first hard frost. Then the leaves just turned brown and fell off the trees.

@RubyHawk I don't know why they'd bother, either... Our next-door neighbor was out mulching them today with his riding mower and then he used his leaf blower to blow them back into his yard... Pretty told me not to worry about it. He needs a "hobby", too...

Thank you. I do wish the neighbor's pile of junk wasn't so prominent back there. Our front yard is now completely covered ankle deep from the trees across the street. But, I know they'll blow away before spring gets here.

Our fall foliage came fast and wasn’t as vibrant as it had been in past years. I did manage to take in some of the beautiful scenery as the leaves changed. Now we have mostly their trees or just brown leaves.

Yes, The Ozarks is a part of Northern Arkansas and Southern Missouri. It's a hilly and mountainous region that is distinct from the surrounding areas. I don't know about it being a show.

I hope they turn into their spectacular colors before they turn brown and fall off the trees. Our trees are glorious right now. I want to say we're at the peak, but there are still a lot of green trees here too. Strange for November when the trees are usually stark by now.

The leaves here normally change color and we have tourists from around the first of October until into November. This year, the leaves stayed green until almost the end of November, turned brown and then all fell off at the same time.

@Vree0937 We don't have a high rate of crime here. But there are two bigger cities on either side of us that do. I told you my city was small. There are a lot of lakes in the Ozarks. Edit to add: It's listing crimes in the whole area, not just for my city.

@Vree0937 I know what it says... You also notice it doesn't tell you what the "crimes" are, right? The neighbor scratched my car. That is a crime... Is it a crime big enough to warrant worrying about? Not in my opinion.

Strangely enough this old house we moved to last year has no trees around it except down the hill. I haven't been out so don't know. Here in Florida though it mostly stays warmer till mid winter then it's freezing in morning and most of the night, but turns hot as "he..double toothpicks" by noon. till night fall again.

There are lots of trees around our house. But until the first week of December the leaves were still green. Then we had a hard freeze and all the leaves turned brown and fell off during a storm. I was out in our back yard yesterday afternoon wearing jean shorts, tank top and sandals. It was nice. Tonight the forecast is calling for icy rain and snow after nightfall until Sunday morning.
