Life In The 80s, Can You Guess What's In The Image?

If you are from the 70s or 80s then you must have guessed it right what the above picture is off, and certainly some beautiful memories of back then also must have cherished. If you spent your childhood in the 70s or 80s back then when there was no internet and no 24/7 tv serials or movies on demand then you must have enjoyed watching your favourite movies once or twice in a week or maybe a month also on VCR or VHS(video cassette player). Owning a VHS player would be big deal back then because buying a TV was out of reach for many those days. Even we never had a VHS but my friend had and when his Dad use to bring in a new movie we were all invited. That would be once in a month that means watching a movie would be a whole lot of fun unlike today one click and you can watch anything anywhere on your mobile. I would thank @JudyEv because I read one of her post where she brought in a dvd player through a garage sale to watch some of her collections, which inspired me to write this post. VHS players were long before DVDs came in which completely overtook the VHS players and now they are history. Those days were awesome, miss those beautiful day's, do you? Image Credit:- Google.

That looks like a VCR, we still have one around here, although it isn't hooked up. We may have to hook it up when the twins are old enough to watch some of the Disney tapes that we kept from when our son was a little boy. They are timeless.

@nitirrbb7 Thanks, I kept the movies that were traditional, the 101 Dalmations, and other fairy tale type of movies. We also have a DVD player somewhere, again, not hooked up presently.

@Juliaacv I am sure it will work when you try it because electronic devices were of really good quality unlike today's they use to work for years before giving up.

Thanks for the mention. I think we still have a VHS player and we certainly have some tapes to play in it. That will be the next thing to see if we can get working.

@nitirrbb7 One of our plans is to try to pick up a cheap record player as we have a heap of LPs that we don't want to give away but would like to play again.

@nitirrbb7 LP stands for long-playing and EP was for extended play - usually two songs each side of the record.

After these DVD players came in the market many small video halls mushroomed in our towns. That ate up the business cinema halls were making.

When we were still young this is how we used to watch movies and there were many video clubs around where you could rent movies. They have now gone out of business

@nitirrbb7 It's been a long time since you were last here. It's nice to see you here again. My first wife and I bought a VHS player back in the 80s... That was so long ago now. I recorded all our old VHS tapes onto DVDs in the 90s so we wouldn't lose the memories when those tapes degraded. We still have the commercial ones, though. How are you and your wife doing now? I hope your whole family are doing well.

I can honestly say, I don't. I'm thankful technology has advanced to where they are no longer needed. My family was a bit more well-off, so getting a vcr/vcp, wasn't out of reach, and the cost of living was much lower back then so getting tapes for them wasn't a streach, either. Spent a lot of time at blockbuster renting, though. To bad it's gone, but it just couldn't keep up with demand.

That is also true technology has advanced from VHS to VCD or DVDs and now they are all history. It's true cost of living was low back then but those days being a single earner and living in a Country where technology was almost a decade behind so even buying a television would be big deal in most of the families here But now thing's have changed completely gadgets have advanced and they have become more too cheaper. I feel good remembering those days, even though we couldn't have those luxuries growing up but still had the privilege to enjoy them at friends or relatives
