I was going to say ‘would you believe I don’t have much to talk about’ but actually I can just tell you about our day. We went off early and managed to get some address labels so I can send off my Christmas cards. We hadn’t been able to order just a couple of sheets online so the lovely young lady did it for us in the store which was handy. We then went to the hardware store which also has plants and picked up two creepers plus some portulaca seedlings and a punnet of the flower in the photo. I’ll need someone to identify it for me although I know they are very common. Is it a vinca perhaps? We also bought a blind for the spare bedroom. Then off to pick up some groceries and I also bought more Christmas cards. This afternoon we did more planting but I don’t have a photo of it yet. We’ll have an early dinner then go to the movie night at the clubhouse. It’s been an enjoyable day. Hope yours has been too.

We call them "garofani giapponesi", I have planted them. They are a miniature variety of carnations, botanical name Dianthus caryophyllus. Mine are still in bloom now.

Dianthus - that's what we know them as. I knew I'd recognise the name as soon as someone came up with it. Thanks, Anna. I love carnations and had them in my wedding bouquet.

@JudyEv Those little plants are not very demanding and they last many years.

It looks like a carnation to me... I don't know the specific name for that one, though... It's possible @myklj999 is correct.

@JudyEv I've grown carnations several times. Their leaves aren't pretty but the flower usually make up for ugly leaves... JJ gave them a first name... Like you're name is Judy...

Such a pretty little flower. I may be wrong, but it looks like a dianthus. We still haven't ordered any new labels and we moved several years ago. We don't send much in the mail.

We don't send many letters either except at Christmas and the address is quite long to write on the back of every envelope which is why I thought labels would be a good idea.

Thanks for the link but it's not a native. I've made a note of the link as I often come across a native plant I can't identify. Between us all, we've decided it's a dianthus.
