So hubby went to the doctor

He has an awkward pain issue that just is not going away. He gets more and more miserable. He will mention this in passing but different doctors/specialists just move on to something else. He does not emphasize how bad he hurts. I got him an appointment with our local primary care physician. She has been very good in the past to track down the source of problems. Sure enough, she poked and pulled, and examined and discussed the pain. Told him it was not the one issue he was suspecting, but it apparently is a pulled muscle, deep inside more or less. A deep groin muscle pull. He thinks he did it trying to put a tire back on a car last July, after he did some work. It makes sense to us. Next Wednesday he will start physical therapy. He is the type that will comply and do the exercises provided, even at home. I hope it provides him some relief very soon. I hate to see him hurting so much. Meanwhile, I forbid him to try to work on cars.

That is the advantage of being married - someone can check on you when you are sick. How lucky is your husband, Heather!

I'm not sure how one would pull a groin muscle putting on a tire but if that's the cause and it happened in July, he has been very stoic about it.

He had removed the tire and wheel and other parts trying to remove some other part, a "trailing arm" and had put a lot of effort into it. Come to think of it, there was something else that he had done, and strained at and eventually got the neighbor and some bigger tools and muscle. He has hurt himself more than once straining. This was more than jack it up and take it off and put it back on.

I'm glad she found the source of the pain. Will it work - forbidding him to work on cars?

Maybe, we shall see. Trying to help someone on the road change a tire started a lot of his other problems.

That thought crossed my mind but if so it would have to be internal. He has had hernia surgery three times.

What a sad shame that had to happen ...what a great doctor she is to figure that out. I wonder how therapy will help though. I hope it does.

This will be kind of like the PT I had last year. They may use electrical stimulus to get the spasms to stop, then show him exercises to relax the pull and then further exercises to prevent further injury.
