Memories of a cheeky little elephant

I was going through some old photos and came across these from our trip to Thailand in 1996. Four adults and 12 teenage boys went to a Karen village in north-western Thailand to help them install a water system which would provide them with fresh, clean water. When it was finished, we had some free days and went to an park which had, among other things, elephants which we could ride and generally interact with. There was also a cheeky young elephant who wanted to play push and shove with anyone who would take him on. Baby elephants are just so cute and I love the way they run with their toes in the air and heels hitting the ground first. I had to scan the photos and they are very ordinary. However, they still bring back lots of memories.

I've never looked at how they run so I wouldn't recognize when it was different but it sounds like a nice time and good memories.

They have four knees! Not like other four-legged animals such as horses etc.

@Fleura And the back knees bend forward, opposite to horses, cows, etc.

@JudyEv It looks like it by your pictures. I wonder if you went back there and told them what year it was if you could see that same baby now. That would be real fun.

He really enjoyed shoving people along. He was much too strong for anyone to push him back.

@JudyEv That’s funny. I can see the surprised look on faces when they were pushed from behind.

Time flies... Wow. I like looking at elephants too. When we went to Thailand, we thought about seeing the elephants, but unfortunately it was far. And we didn't have time to visit them. It's OK, I used to have an elephant stuff toy..... Lol

Baby animals are always cute... just like human babies. It's when things grow up that they become... not so cute.

That must have been so much fun. I would love to visit somewhere like that. My cousin and his wife, although at that time girlfriend went to Thailand. The thing that amazed him was the crazy traffic, but I think that is in alot of places. He thought the whole experience of being there was kind of mind altering though.
