Do you have a preferred variety of chilli pepper?

Chillies are one of the things that grow easily in my greenhouse, and also a useful crop because they are relatively expensive to buy, they are quite prolific and they are easy to store and don’t take up a lot of space, so I can grow enough to use throughout the year. I’ve tried several different varieties though and I can’t say I’ve noticed an awful lot of difference, I generally just use them interchangeably. This year I grew ‘Thai dragon’ (pictured) and ‘Apache’ varieties. Do you have a favourite variety of chilli pepper? All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2021.

I am not good at telling the types of chills as there are quite a lot of different types for it. It is great you seem to have a harvest of it

I grow many different, but my favorite are the round Italian "bacio di Satana" (Satana kiss), that we serve filled with a mix of tuna, capers and mayonnaise. I also grow jalapeños and the very small ones from the south of Italy (davolicchio), very hot.

@Fleura I have seen the round Italians sold in specialty stores in jars, already filled. I have a photo here, the round one on the right is the bacio di Satana, the smaller with the leaves are the diavolicchi, the others two are common paprika.

Yes, I do... I like all chili peppers that are kept far away from anything I'm likely to eat.

@Fleura Thank goodness they're on the other side of the pond from me. Please keep them there.

We don't use enough chilli to warrant growing them. Mostly I dodge chilli. But that's great if you can supply a whole year's supply.

We do use a reasonable amount. I have some in the freezer now and drying ones strung all along the kitchen. And I made apple and chilli jelly too.

I have no idea the name of the pepper I like, but I recognise it when I see it or rather them, as there are several I like
