Not taking any chances

Most of my family has had two Covid vaccines. That includes our 18 year old grandson, Nathan. He was planning to get a booster, but his dad is thinking maybe he shouldn't. I've been reading about a heart related event that has happened to teenaged or a little older males after the vaccine. One myLotter's grandson had this happen. I pray he's recovered. It seems to be fairly rare, but that doesn't mean much if it's your young man who goes through it. Nathan did okay with the two shots and has a healthy heart as far as we know. But his mother died at 34 from a massive heart attack when Nathan was a baby and her mother has heart disease. So, I think it's wise not to take a chance with the booster. We'll probably get the booster shot soon, but who knows. Have you been vaccinated? I personally think it's a good idea unless someone has a health reason not to. But I absolutely don't believe the government has a right to make anyone get it.

Did you both get along okay? With my first shot I felt like I had the flu for a few days, but did fine with the second one.

@1creekgirl I have had my two vaccines as well as a booster. It was not troubling to me at all, except I think the technician did not choose a fatty part of my arm, but more like the back. I was sore in that spot for two days.

@1creekgirl I’m getting my booster on 16th. No reason that I’m aware of not to but if medical advice said it’s risky I wouldn’t.

That's good common sense. Does your government punish citizens if they refuse the vaccine?

@1creekgirl No, but I’d love to see punishment meted out to the idiots among us who are refusing to take any precautions and are spreading it. All nightclubs south of the border are now closed but not up here.

It is something to research and ask your doctor about. I was texting with a nephew a while back about the vaccine. He's in his mid 30's and very intelligent, but he told me that he hasn't been vaccinated yet. I questioned him on it as it took me by surprise. He told me that he personally had 3 friends who had the shot and all ended up in the ER with heart issues within 3-4 days. I read something online recently about the inflammation in males and its a real concern.
A higher-than-expected number of young men have experienced heart inflammation after their second dose of the mRNA COVID-19 shots from Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna, according to data from two vaccine safety monitoring systems, the U.S. Centers for Disease C

@1creekgirl Nathan has a history of heart issues as does our family. This is a very tough decision for one to make. Now my nephew did tell me that his friends that all wound up in the ER didn't have any lasting effects, which is a good thing. But none of them had any heart conditions in their families either.

I think more people are becoming aware of this problem. Your nephew may be wise not to take it. We probably would have not let Nathan take them, but thank God he did okay. But he's not getting the booster.

@Juliaacv Did your son get the shots? Did your family history of heart disease cause any problems?

I think that Nathan should not get the booster, I have read of several teenagers having a heart problem after the vaccine. My husband cannot be vaccinated because of treatments he needs. I agree that the government has no right to impose the vaccine.... that by the way is not protecting against Omicron.

@1creekgirl We stay at home most of the time. When we go shopping he waits for me in the car. Let's hope this horrible thing disappears soon.

@JimBo452020 Technically it's still optional, but a lot of places require it or be fired from your job. Lots of law suites being filed.

I have not been vaccinated. I will consider it after the public clinical trials can provide a more clear picture of long term effects, side effects and which health conditions cause problems. I'm pretty sure I've already had Covid. I'd just as soon trust my immune system than an relatively untested vaccine.

I think your opinion is shared by a lot of people. I suspect I may have had it, but who knows. I just strongly believe the government should stay out of our health decisions.

We are all individuals and we all respond differently to various treatments. It is wise to consider all circumstances when making these decisions, that we should be making for ourselves.

It's a personal decision. In my case, I was not sold out to the idea at first but eventually I concurred because all my friends ahd theirs and nothing happened, so I finally got mine, and thank God, I'm still doing fine.
