I've repotted two plants

This morning, I repotted two plants that were bursting out of their plastic pots. They are the second and third from the left. I wrote about buying some bigger pots at a garage sale. You can see they have been put to good use. I think they are philodendrons. Between the two, I used a full 25 litre (kilo?) bag of potting mix. Although we’ve been metric for decades, I don’t know if the two measurements would be same but I think not. The pots are all lined up now under the patio roof. I don’t really know if this is a good spot for them or not but time will tell I guess. Do you have trouble knowing what’s best for your plants?

I have been metric since I was born, but I never understood why they sell potting mix per litre, I have no idea if it's equal to 25 Kg... I have to weight. Your plants look beautiful. I often have trouble knowing what it's best for my plants.

Potting mix is sold by volume, therefore the use of litres.

@LadyDuck A 25 kg bag of potting mix is quite large.

@BarBaraPrz I think that it is lighter, I do not have the feeling to lift 25 Kg when I lift a 25 Litre potting mix.

Once school starts again (late January/early February for us) there will be heaps of school children just across the road.

@JudyEv We have several varieties of Australian trees here in Florida that are considered invasive and are taking over the local ecosystems. The state has begun an active eradication program to eliminate the Australian varieties and re-introduce native varieties. There's also some varieties from Brazil that are taking over as well.

@moffittjc People never seem to learn that it's not always a good thing to introduce new varieties - of animals or plants.

I know that one of our eucalypts is now considered a pest in California. Serve you right for pinching it.

Wow you are so excited to fill your pots, you almost filled them. I honestly don't know much about plants that are suitable for the home page but I have a flower that I don't know what it's called.

Yes, I rarely get a good yield of anything. I grew cauliflower last summer, and although the plants looked healthy they never produced any caulifower! Par for the course. I think they probably needed some kind of additive to the soil.

Mostly, I don't think it is worth the bother growing your own vegies. You're always fighting bugs or whatever, and buying sprays and fertiliser, etc.

Your plants all look so healthy here. I hope that they remain that way. I don't find that potting soil goes as far as I'd like it to either when transplanting, those pots hold alot more then we realize they do. I am always careful to try to get pots that aren't too huge as they weigh a ton after repotting.

@JudyEv Yes they will be, and even heavier if the soil is wet. Have Vince lift them for you.

Looks great! I've needed to replant in the past. Sadly, that plant didn't last through the move. I bought more when I moved here. We'll see how those go. One is dying, the others are doing well. I even remember to water them.

I have small ones in the window-sill and they sometimes get forgotten. Then I feel guilty and probably over-water them!

plants usually have a tag with information about growing conditions. Some like sun and some like shade. You could look online.

Litres are used for volume, kilos for weight. A 25 kilo bag of potting mix would be quite large.
