Did you know I once grew pot?

Back in the 1980s, we lived in a small country town. The house across the road was owned by a very eccentric character. He was nice enough but could be very cutting and quite unkind if he took a disliking to you. Luckily, we got on well with him. He had to go away for a few days and asked me to water some plants he had in pots near the back door. He said they were tomato plants. I was very anxious about this task as I mostly kill plants. But these stayed alive and even looked to be doing well. It was only weeks later that he told me I’d been watering his marijuana plants. Have you ever picked up that I’m pretty gullible? Today’s chores include a trip to Ikea to pick up two small cupboards, an afternoon tea at the clubhouse as a welcome to new residents to our village and a movie tonight at the same clubhouse. And I need to do the ironing. The expected temperature today is 36°C (96.8°F).

@JudyEv I am trying to learn not to be so gullible. I have a long way to go.

Ikea doesn't have what we want so we won't have to go out this morning.

It's actually pretty difficult to kill pot plants. Not that I would know first-hand, as far as you know. I was once growing a small plant in my house and mom got nosy when she came for a visit. She asked me what the plant was and I told her it was a wild tomato plant... (It wasn't her business, so felt no need to be truthful. *shrug*) Later, I laughed and told her what it actually was.

@JudyEv I can only imagine how pleased he was that you didn't kill them.

They seem easy to grow. I was very pleased that I hadn't killed his 'tomato' plants.

When I was in high school, my boss at my part-time job grew pot, and he had them all over his house. He even decorated one of his big ones as a Christmas tree each year for the holiday.

Was it illegal at the time? It would be a bit funny seeing one decorated at Christmas.

@moffittjc Haha - What a very clever idea. I must start checking out our gardens. There is quite a bit of ground that is looked after by a landscaping company. Maybe I can score myself some weed!

Well many things happen in life. At times, we have hard lessons to learn. By the way, I did my weekly WC cleaning with Harpic and brush. It took 5 to 6 minutes but it made me satisfied! 36 C and humid or dry? If humid, then you need to have your fans and ACs in good condition!!

Thankfully it is rarely humid. The A/C works too well and leaves us shivering. We switch it on for a while then off for a while but we are contacting someone today about it. It was the same with winter when the rooms just got hotter and hotter. The thermostat can't be working properly.

Wow, could that have made you an accessory to being an international crime lord? We’re supposed to get in the 20s (below 0º C) tonight, so let’s mix the two weathers together and we both should be quite pleasant!!

@judyev Oh forget the ironing - the clothes just get wrinkled again once you put them on. Maybe though you’ll like to look smart for afternoon tea - such a refined occasion

I don't iron too much nowadays but if I start putting it off then it gets put offer and offer - so to speak. I used to hate having a great pile of ironing to do.

Sure I read that hiding pot plants amongst tomato plants is one way to hide them, but it is well known now

@JudyEv What a sly one he was not telling what was really in the pots. It can happen to anyone and not just you that someone would say one thing and mean something else. Did you smoke the pot when you knew what it was he was growing there? I went to IKEA here once and it was very big and had to take a bus or two to get there and really did not find what I wanted at the time and cannot remember what it was. As far as I know winter is here and so is the rain this week if what I read is correct. I try to not have to go outside except early in the morning to throw out the garbage so do not check the weather to see how it is later on.
