Sadly watching daughter go through laundry baskets to find clean work clothes. She was off yesterday and Monday. She got me into the shower and changed my bed. Of course I love when she is home. This is where life has switched us around. I used to have to leave her to work and she was not happy.
Just this morning my daughter in Ohio said she made potato candy. I used to make it when they was little. Recipe from my step dad from his mom. way way back ago. I know it don't sound good but it's delish and very rich. Ever had any ?
Hope you all are looking forward to Christmas. Me not so much. Seems I never have the money to buy any more. I used to spend around a thousand bucks on it. But now can't spend a buck.
You happy to spend ?
Anyway hope I can stay awake long enough to post on your posts. Pain pills get to me and this weather is making my bones hurt so that's that.

You are blessed to have both your daughter, caring about their Mom! Nope, I have never been one to spend much on Christmas, even when my kids were at home. Potato candy, sounds delicious!

@bunnybon7 My mother use to make hard candy on the table, in various flavors. I loved the butterscotch!

So wonderful of your daughter to take care of you! Never had potato candy . . . I wonder what it tastes like. These past couple years I have spent the least amount for all gifts . . . in a sense we were forced to live simpler, but I actually feel less stressed.

Yes it seems like when we start buying for people it's like a snow ball rolling down hill
You buy for one friend or family member then worry another might feel slighted or you see something you think one might like and end up buying for another also so they won't wonder why you forgot them.
It was so easy when I had money and could work.

@bunnybon7 Right - we are the types that want to make sure everyone is covered so there are no hurt feelings. I actually went through that this week . . . we were going to visit my mother in law in her senior home so I bought "stuff" for her . . . but then I found out 2 sister in laws were going too. I wouldn't have felt right just giving MIL a gift, so I had to go out again to find gifts for SILs

I usually get something for Pretty but not like I used to... She always says she doesn't want anything for Christmas. *shrug*

@bunnybon7 We quit decorating for Christmas at home after I started working at Walmart. They start decorating so early they burn me out on Christmas well before the season actually starts.

I've never had potato candy. These days we really don't have much to buy for Christmas. Just a gift card for our housekeeper (my husband's second cousin). Hoping you feel better.

thanks dear. I think not many people will be able to spend this year. Many people will be gifting what someone needs instead of useless wants.
My daughter in Ohio is sending me coffee I need for Christmas.

I've never even heard of potato candy but I do have some cookie recipes that bring back wonderful memories of Christmas past. The older I get the more I realize it's the memories of those who shared our holidays rather than what gifts were bought.

yes my photo is from ' 73. My daughter here is the baby in it and my 2 boys were a mess. They had been wrestling and we made them stop to take the photo.

@bunnybon7 Yes, usually boys are always like that. They are hyperactive. But those are the hallmarks of a healthy boy.

Merry Christmas, and I hope you enjoy the holiday regardless of your condition. I remember potato candy, we made it a few times when I was a kid. It is tasty.

Christmas, while my favorite holiday, has become to cammericalized. People think they need to drop a lot of cash on Christmas gifts, (and stores encourage this behavior with sales), but it's also about time with family and friends and being there for them.

it's actually very good. Doesn't taste like potatoes. I think it's the consistancy the reason for a potato

I need to ask you this have you gotten hospice services. It comes with Medicare. Al had an aid 3 days a week to bath him and they have weekly nurse visits. Anyway I am going very simple this Christmas. I had already bought many of my gifts. Sending hugs
