Philadelphia Cream Cheese will pay you $20 to not make a cheesecake

Apparently there is a shortage of cream cheese in areas of the country. I haven't noticed that around here but it seems to be a thing. The company that makes Philadelphia cream cheese has actually created a site called "Share The Feeling". People can register tomorrow and Saturday to reserve spots in the program. You can buy another dessert, submit the receipt to the web site, and receive $20 compensation from the company. My family always has loads of appetizers and then a big Christmas dinner. Dessert is pretty much an afterthought. My sister makes some kind of white chocolate macadamia cookies with cranberries every year. I honestly can't tell you what else we usually have but it isn't cheesecake. I LOVE cheesecake and would never turn it down but I also know that I never have dessert on Christmas. I guess even people who weren't hoping to make cheesecake can still enroll in the program to get the $20. It isn't like they would know that you were planning to have a regular cake or brownies or cookies all along. I'm sure some cheapskates will do exactly that.

I don't have any plans to make cheesecake yet. Seems like a lot to prepare.

I noticed cream cheese is very hard to find. I wanted to make cookies that require cream cheese in the dough. Guess I won't be making them this year.

There’s no shortage of Philly cheese here in the UK. At Tesco supermarket it’s half price at the moment. Cheesecake isn’t a traditional Christmas dessert here anyway, so not a problem. Christmas pudding and trifles are more popular.

A chocolate cake is fine here. No plans of making any desserts.

I know there are cheating cheapskates out there and they really bother honest people like me. I submitted the paperwork for the 25,000 cheesecakes I was going to makeand I'm perfectly happy with the $500,000 they sent me but honestly, I'm a little upset because if there weren't so many people gaming the system, maybe they could have given me $40 instead of only $20 per cheesecake.

That's a kind of encouragement, but then something that you make at home is always preferred.

I have traditionally made cheesecake for Christmas or New Year's. Last year my husband followed my recipe and made it for the first time. He put too many eggs in it; and it didn't turn out very well. We won't be having cheesecake this year. Maybe we should purchase something else and turn in the receipt.

I do not buy Philadelphia cream cheese very often. I might buy one of the little packages of it every 6 months.

I love cheesecake, but I love most deserts. I can live without having cheesecakes for a while.

@Babino I’m betting your favourite desert is the Sahara. Am I right?

Wow thanks for the heads's up. Extra $20 is awesome, but this thing better not be in shortage on my Feb.1 birthday. I love momma's homemade cheesecake
