A couple of months ago I saw a car pass with with a really weird car logo. As it was a quick glimpse I thought someone had just put a bumper sticker for the band Nine Inch Nails over the car brand. Then I saw another one. Now, I know nothing about Nine Inch Nails except their name and their logo. And I realized that wasn’t their logo, just a bad facsimile of it. But that wasn’t it. It turned out, once I saw that “thing” on a car with “Soul” in the corner, to be the new logo for Kia Motors. I’m confused. You generally don’t see car companies changing their “signature” logo. Could you imagine Chevrolet changing their emblem to a necktie? What would all those “bow tie till I die” bumper sticker manufacturers do????? But then I wondered: did the Oval-Shaped Car Logo Union™ tell Kia that, as the “new kids in town,” they had to change their oval-shaped “Kia” car plate because people might confuse it with a Ford or a Subaru? I know this much: it’s fugly. And I’m not the only one who thinks so: I’ve seen a lot of reviews of the “Kia rebranding” that came earlier in 2021; and, while the cars are generally getting excellent reviews, that logo is NOT. Changing corporate logos is a dangerous mood. After all, some of us haven’t gotten over the change of the old “Pepsi-Cola” logo in 1969. A song about another type of car:

I've never heard of "Bowtie 'til I die" and have never seen it before... I've just looked up the new KIA emblem and the Nine Inch Nails logo and they do look remarkably similar. "Back in January, Kia said that the logo was intended to convey a fresh start and a change of direction for the company. "The rhythmical, unbroken line of the logo conveys Kia's commitment to bringing moments of inspiration, while its symmetry demonstrates confidence," it said in a press release." Excerpt taken from:

“Bow tie ‘til I die” is the “rally cry” of die-hard Chevrolet owners, so stated because the Chevrolet logo looks like a bow tie (I guess, if you’re drunk or have astigmatism….or both).

@DaddyEvil — I see those frequently here, given that we have two Ford manufacturing plants in town.

Well, when it whizzes by you at 60 MPH and you just get a glimpse of it. It looks more like the NIN logo now than the old Kia logo did.

Yuck. Reminds me of when GAP changed their iconic logo. People FREAKED. It was back to the old one within the week.

I know. It’s genuinely a turn-off. And that’s sad because generally their cars get good reviews, especially the newer hybrid SUVs, which are touted as viable alternatives to the RAV-4. (Sacrilege to say that unless it’s true….not that I’m going to trade in my car on either or both to find out….)

Really surprised that a car company would change its logo.

It’s not like they changed their name from Datsun to Nissan, either!

The song is epic!!!! My favorite car was the 1960s style gull wing, Mercedes. They had that cool benz logo on the hood. Now, when I see a benz, they don't so that hood ornament anymore (neither does Rolls Royce or Jaguar) so they do change but it takes a long time!

When I was in the truck museum in Iowa it dawned on me that it’s been ages since I’ve seen the Mack Truck dog. I think that hood ornaments were outlawed for safety reasons, though.

We have a Kia but it has the old emblem. I haven't seen the new one here. And I've never heard of Nine Inch Nails.

I always wondered why companies change their logo's. Seems like a bad idea to me.

Everything that's changed is supposedly meant to better things. In most cases, these hair-brained ideas aren't accepted by the public! They want to be unique and draw more sales. Instead, they are stupid and drive buyers away
