Signing Off to Sleep / myLot

I need to sign off because I need to accompany my niece to her dentist tomorrow morning. It is an uncle's duty as her Santa. Her father cannot go with her because he has his work. The mommy needs to take good care of the twins. Since I am not married and have no children, I treat her, the twins, and my nephew as my own. Are you like me who treat nephews or nieces as your own? Any kid around me gets treated as mine when parents are absent for whatever reason.

You thought someone who jokes all the time couldn't take care of kiddies? When Pretty was still in school several of her friends lived with us, off and on, as their parents had problems. One of her friends lived with us for over two years. *shrug* They needed a place to go and someone who'd take care of them. We volunteered.

There's a bad way to say that?

That is nice of you. I don't have kids, and I don't want any of my own. Though I always wanted to be an aunt. But it's hard to do if you don't have siblings.

Since I am not married yet, I am open to being single forever. If I am going to be in this way, having pets will be the best option for me. How about cousins? Do you have any?

@FayeHazel At my age now, I am not close to my cousins that much. Growing apart from them makes us not that close anymore. That is the reason why I am not that close with their kiddies.

@Shavkat It is a great gift to be content being single. I usually am. Right now I desire to meet someone, but, it just doesn't seem likely. It's ok. Technically I have some cousins but am close with none of them. Pity that. I have thought on volunteering at big brothers big sisters sometime though when the pandemic is more under control

When they were growing up my niece and nephew and I weren't that close, and then I had children of my own. My niece and nephew are in their thirties now and I am closer to them now than I was when they were younger. Enjoy your Santa duties. That is nice of you to do.

I can dig into what you'd shared. I am not that close to my cousins' kiddies and hopefully, it would turn into a new leaf in the future. My siblings' kiddies are like my own since I am the eldest in the family. It was like I am an image of our old man.
