In the bathroom when the doorbell rang

On Friday, I was in the bathroom when the doorbell rang a few times.
I yelled that I can’t come downstairs.
Not sure why I did that as whoever was outside couldn’t hear me anyway.
I hoped it wasn’t a flower delivery.
I heard the key turn in the lock and realized it was my parents coming to wish me a happy birthday.
Once they got inside I told them I’m in the bathroom and will be down in a minute.
My dad laughed and said, “as usual.”
That’s probably because a lot of times when he calls I happen to be in the bathroom...

That seems to be a family tradition in a lot of homes. When Mom was alive, no matter who called whom, she and whichever of us she was telling to was on the throne. The same thing happens when my son and I call each other or I am on the phone with my cousin.

I usually never talk to anyone while I’m on the toilet... That would be weird.

@lovebuglena, I try not to, and I never talk to friends or strangers while on the toilet. But my cousin and I often talk on the phone for five or six hours at a time. And, my son and I usually talk for two or three. So we are comfortable taking care of our personal needs while on the phone because we are family.

@Chellezhere as long as talking on the phone doesn’t interrupt your toilet business lol, and the person on the other line doesn’t mind, it’s all good.

@lovebuglena They surely imagined you were in the bathroom.

Thank you. Me too. I’d hate for them to wait outside or worse think that I’m not home and leave.

Your dad has excellent timing...
I used to have a friend that I'd visit once in a while. Every time I went to her house she was in the bathroom, usually in the shower. She gave me a key so she didn't have to answer the door wrapped in a towel anymore. (I teased her that I was spying on her and seeing her in the towel was the whole reason I showed up when I did... she whipped the towel off and popped me with it.

@lovebuglena Uhm... close enough... She later tried to sue me for child support for her unborn baby... The judge threw the case out after I proved I couldn't have kids anymore.

I am living in their old house. That's why they have the key.

@thelme55 Happy New Year to you as well. It's good that your son has a spare key.

@lovebuglena I see. We give our spare key to our son just in case he needs it when we are not at home.
Happy new year!

That was nice of them to stop by. I don't know if I'd like them letting themselves in though.

I don’t mind as long as I know they will be coming.

Glad at least it was good news and your parents came to visit, I can be very frustrating when you're in the bathroom and someone comes to visit,

Recently, I was about to hop in the shower when a bell rang. I looked out the window and it was a flower delivery. Good thing I didn't get in the shower yet.
