I wish avocados had a good price all year.

There are many veggies and fruits that I would buy all year around if they weren´t so expensive.
When I was a child, we had grapes all summer and part of the fall too. They were smaller, and had big seeds. But they were very sweet and my mom had them at home every day.
Those were the times when men did not tamper with the fruit genes.
We did not export avocados then but they were not expensive. A normal breakfast could either have jam or eggs or avocado paste on top of a toast.
The world has changed and not everything is for the better.
But now I could buy some avocados that were less expensive because they were small. It seems that the avocados have to have a certain size to be exported. I prefer the small ones as I live alone. I eat one avocado and choose the ripest one.
Do you like avocados? How do you eat them? I eat them in a paste for breakfast, in green salads and as appetizers in guacamole.

Prices have gone up locally too. I like butter avocado best, a local variety, rare to find. From .99 to 1.99 now, in sale. I like them just cut up to gobble in salads. Now I've lived over 60 yes and only twice I'd bad ones.

My problem is the price. Some veggies and fruit have gone up because we export them. I used to buy a lot of asparagus. Not anymore.

@oahuwriter I don´t mind eating frozen corn or green beans. But some veggies don´t freeze well.

Same here. I look for frozen, not as tasty like fresh, but all I can afford.

I like them. I usually have them on toast, as part of guacamole, or in a sandwich. They are fairly expensive here too. Most come from Mexico that we get here.

We grow them here. Maybe the original plants came from Mexico but they can be grown very well here too.

I can see why those hard to grow but also inflation is crazy someone needs to put an end to inflation. I heard one economist and was more of Trump type dude and he said this is not sustainable. I am saying that not to be political but where we at as a whole.

I have heard a lot that the planet is enough to keep everyone from hunger. But it seems that some have too much and others have too little.

@crossbones27 One would think that as now we have planes and containers that keep food frozen we could take some to where there´s famine.

@marguicha Indeed, amen, and so sad. Its a very true statement especially with technology we have now. People just want to be better than their neighbors. Purely selfish reasons and worse out of hate a different colored skin person cannot have more than me. Lets sabotage them.

I only buy the Hass brand too. The others either have fiber or are watery.

I've eaten avocado once on toast with an egg for breakfast that a friend from Peru made for me. It was delicious. I've tried avocado by itself once and didn't care for it.

@DaddyEvil If I remember. I love them even paring them , taking out the pit and putting there salt and olive oil. A teaspoon does the rest

I have never eaten that mixture. I´ll ask any Peruvian lady I see around now. There are many of them that come to my country to work.

I don't care much for avocados. Maybe because the ones I was given in the restaurant were over ripe.

Once the avocados get over ripe, you have to throw them away. I bought around 4 pounds of small avocados but now I have some in the fridge.

Avocados are delicious. And for people who also like healthy food, they are also healthy.

I could. But I won´t grow anything that lasts more than a year now. My youngest daughter is even growing a fig tree in her garden.
