Roses and a riddle

We moved to our gated village in May but it was some months before we managed to buy some pots and plants to brighten up the yard. We started off with three rose bushes, two creepers and a few bits and pieces. The roses all flowered and I cut off the blooms as they died. Now there is another crop of flowers appearing. The one in the photo is called Origami and what you see is what passers-by see when they walk along the footpath. There aren’t quite as many flowers on our side of the fence but that’s okay. Flowers and plants certainly brighten up a place, don’t they? Oh – and before Christmas gets too far away, here is a Christmas riddle: How does Santa Claus like his pizza? Deep pan, crisp and even of course. If English isn’t your first language, there is a line in a carol’ where the snow lays round about, Deep and crisp and even’.

it's a beautiful flower, although whether it's origami or real the important thing is that it's beautiful. Plants can really make our room and yard more natural, especially with flowers, the room will definitely look better.

It's real but the variety is called 'Origami'. The others are Fire Opal and Bonica.

@rebelann I'm not sure. I thought I might try some spinach and/or tomatoes in troughs. Vince might be short on iron so spinach would be helpful to keep his levels up.

Plants are a joy to have around and the color and brightness make your life a little happier. You moved to a gated community so does that mean there aren't kangaroos hanging out in the yard anymore?

Yes, I'm afraid so. No more kangaroos. I really miss the open space and the roos.

@RubyHawk It's good to know these are now established or they wouldn't be having a second lot of flowers.

It was like we put in an instant garden buying pots and plants and installing everything within a couple of days. It made a huge difference to my mood as well as to the look of the patio.

I love seeing flowers growing. Never have liked getting cut flowers. Once they die it's sad they have gone and you just have a mess. But growing is beautiful.

The flowers look great. Its hard to believe that its been over 6 months since you moved, it seems like such a short time ago. I believe that the Christmas carol is Good King Wenceslas.
