Good morning Tuesday from this side of the planet.. It's 7:20 AM here as I write this post. Sun is out and bright. I am done with few morning chores and now it's time to do my yoga after this post. I just dropped to say hi and make a post... keeping the goal of making more posts here this year I am off today. In fact I am off from work till Friday. Our school is having vaccination drive for students 15_18 years and few staffs who are still not vaccinated. So, this week is a holiday for High school so that students can get vaccinated and recover from the symptoms. Online revision classes go in the evening and they can attend it if they feel okay. Teachers are taking turns to go for duty at the vaccination drive to make things go smooth. I did it yesterday and it was a long working hours from 10_4 for me yesterday. Online classes continue for rest. One of student got vaccinated yesterday and is sick. So, he took leave till Friday to rest and recover. My other student who is 9 has got covid along with his family So, no classes for me. I have to do few other things related to work and that would be an hour each day. Cases are on rise here and our apartment is a containment zone with more than 80 cases. Restrictions are back and the Covid Response team is active again. All guests and household helps are barred from entering the building. I plan to do a few chores and gardening being one of them. These tomatoes are ready to be harvested. See you later. Take care. I hope to be more here today

So many people here still refuse to be vaccinated... and now, with Omicron, the vaccines aren't working very well, so the less intelligent people have one more thing to point at and claim the vaccines don't work at all. (Even people on myLot are making theses claims and it's so difficult to make them understand the problem that has cropped up.) I'm tired of trying to explain it to them. Good luck with the drives there. I'll talk with you when you have time.

Anti vaccination people keep opposing vaccines and now even more than ever as vaccines don't stop infection. It's sad that they fail to understand how they overburden the health care system by hospitalization. Vaccines have been shown to be significant in reducing the hospitalization and mortality rate. The drives are going smoothly. We have one more day of it tomorrow and almost all our students from 15_18 years have received their first dose. We plan to have another drive for second dose after six weeks. Good that schools are taking these initiatives to make things easier for parents and children.

@arunima25 I've said all along that if they wouldn't get vaccinated, why are they allowed to take up a bed in the hospital when they fall prey to Covid? Let them die.

@DaddyEvil Too much of hospitalization does burden the healthcare system and many others suffer. Not sure what will bring the sense and responsibilities in them.

80 cases!! OMG! Even here, cases are increasing. We have almost stopped going outside for grocery and even walk. But I am planning regular walk when good sunshine returns in perhaps 10-12 days, keeping masking and distance in mind. Tough times again.

@arunima25 Yes pains plus loss of smell and taste can linger on. One of my colleagues hasn't got back her loss of smell and taste since last 6 to 7 months.

Cases are spiking everywhere and there are more unreported cases than the reported ones. It's infectious one and spreading like a wild fire. Though the symptoms are mild, nothing yet can be said about the long term effects. Better to stay safe and take care.

I have already got two rounds of harvest. Few more are left and they should be ready in few days. I guess those will be the last ones. I should plant some in the seeds tray on weekend.

@marlina Not in other parts of India. But yes for Bengaluru. Here we don't have seasonal changes and weather stays same pleasant throughout the year. So, we can grow all the vegetables throughout the year. I do that.

Almost all our new cases are Omicron, unfortunately not even the 3rd booster seems to work to stop Omicron. Pfizer and Moderna are promising a new vaccine ready from March. Let's hope not to see new mutations by them. Your tomatoes look beautiful.

@arunima25 - Omicron spreads faster, it does not kill, but many are very sick. Here the cold weather is not helping. We have many cases in the nursing homes now, where all people (and personnel) have been fully vaccinated and also had the booster.

@LadyDuck Yes, there is no guarantee of protection against infection. Israel has started giving fourth shot now. Not sure where all this will actually stop

Yes, Omicron is the dominant variant at present in the world. Our vaccines are not stopping infection but they are shown to be effective against the complications. Hospitalization and mortality has definitely come down. We hope to get better vaccines and treatments in coming future. Scientists and health care professionals are working tirelessly everywhere. We have got good produce this time too. I have some that will be ready for harvest in the coming week.

@JudyEv Sometimes even I plan for an early retirement. But I am just 43 and I can not stay without doing much for more than a couple of days.. So I don't see retirement coming anytime soon

It's more than enough. They took so much of my time yesterday and I could not be here as I planned.. And today too I went around doing few things and I just got some free time to be here. It's 4:37 PM and it's my first break from chores since the morning.

The cases have come down in our apartment complex as many have recovered and are out of quarantine. And no new cases reported in the last 48 hours. But there is an increase in the cases in the state and country. We hope that things get better soon. I got a good harvest of tomatoes this time too. Some more would be ready to be harvested next week. Thank you.

@sinari We all are hoping for the same. And not only for our place but across the globe. No one is safe unless everyone is safe. There is a marginal dip in number of cases and that's positive sign. I should pluck them on Monday. Yes, it is a good harvest

That's bad. My great-aunt and two family friends have covid. It's sunny, but we still have snow on the ground. I finally moved my computer in the den which warmer than the other room I had it in.

@arunima25 I wish more people here were willing to be vaccinated. I had bad reaction to booster, but would take it again to prevent myself from getting Covid.

People have to understand that their freedom comes with responsibility. They risk not only their lives but lives of others too. Vaccination does bring down hospitalization and mortality. I too had a bad reaction to second shot and I suffered for almost three months. It was due to the autoimmune disorder that I suffer from. But then my doctor felt that I should get vaccinated as it would be better to safe me from covid.
