My Mom's 9th Day of Death

For Roman Catholic individuals, they believe that the 9th day of death makes the soul roam around between heaven and hell. The soul does not know which place is he or she going at this point in time. According to their beliefs, he or she will know the final destination on the 40th day. With the help of prayers for my mother, we continue the novena for the dead until Wednesday. I visited the Pink Sisters' Convent and Chapel (Baguio City, Philippines) as seen in this photo. It is a place where my mom claimed that I was smiling and laughing aged 3-month-old. Do you still remember your fond memories with your biological parents?

I'm positive you don't have to worry about where she'll spend eternity, Shavkat. With a good son like you, she can't go anywhere bad.

I also think the same way. I hope she is so happy with my father in heaven now. They are my angels.

@Shavkat I'm sure they're happy together. I'm glad you think of them as your angels. I'm sure they look down and watch over your family.

I am Roman Catholic and in Italy we never claimed this, I think this is a local habit you have. No matter your believes, I am sure that you have nothing to fear about your mother.

I must admit that my mom is not religious. I agree that I should not be scared of my mother.

@Shavkat Non religious people are often better than those who proclaim to be religious and are mean people. I do not believe that hell exist. Once we die we will surely have a better life.

I heard that wishes will come true in this church. I am feeling like we are orphans for not having my parents anymore.

Since I don't know my biological father, I don't have memories of him, but I do have some good memories of my mother.

I don't really believe in the stories about hell. Your mother was a good person. I'm sure she'll go to heaven.
