As a fan of reality TV we found Survivor Australia on Paramount + I love Survivor so when we saw that season one of Australia was available we started watching it over the weekend. If you're not familiar with Survivor Australia is very similar to what we see here in the US. The concept is.....A group of 24 contestants must fend for themselves after being marooned in a hidden location while competing in physically and mentally exhausting challenges. They vote off each other as the season goes on and the winner can win half a million dollars. I've been watching the US version of Survivor probably right from the get-go. So, to find this on Paramount+ was a win win. How do I tie this into a myLot experience? Well, one favorite myLotter from Australia is Judy @JudyEv who recently wrote a post about learning something about Australia from her posts. Some things came to mind when I commented on her post but after watching this season of Survivor Australia I think what I've really learned from Judy is the lingo/slang so hearing the survivors chat with each other I knew what they were saying. Our slang isn't much different here in the US but some phrases are a bit different. So thank you Judy for your posts Do you like reality tv and if so, what's your favorite show? If not reality, do you have a favorite tv show?

Survivor Australia sounds like a good show. It sounds similar to a show I used to watch that is called Fear Factor. I like local shows here for example a show called Varshita is about an Indian Lady who lives in my town. She is the main actor and the story revolves around her wanting to be married by a Kenyan guy but her indian parents want her to marry an indian

I used to watch Fear Factor and like it very much. Your local show sounds very interesting. I'm intrigued now to see if the actor married the Kenyan guy or an Indian

@Marilynda1225 She ended up having a baby with the Kenyan guy while being married to the Indian guy. She later divorced the Indian man. It comes on tv everyday for only 30 minutes. It's filled with so much drama.

That’s really neat you understood the lingo due to her posts. I have never watched survivor but a friend of mine used to watch it all the time. I’m watching an an Amazon preview movie for a $10 Amazon gift card. The baby is sleeping luckily as I don’t like to watch movies in front of her. There’s lots of other things I could be doing too like housework and making cookies

Glad you were able to enjoy a movie with your gift card. I'm sure the baby keeps you busy as well as the rest of the family. There's no rest for moms

I'm not into Reality. I like drama and sci-fi. Those seem to be what I watch most.

@CarolDM I only watched the first two episodes and was wondering if it was good. The two episodes I watched seemed a little slow.

My mom and I watched the very first episode of the very first incarnation of Survivor and we both agreed that it was too heavily scripted to be "real". All so-called reality shows are. My agent sent me to a mass audition for one...

@Marilynda1225 I don't think the show ever got made, though. It had something to do with counseling.

Wow you went for an audition? That must have been interesting. Sur Ivor has been on for a long long time but even though its probably far from the reality it claims to be its entertaining

Survivor Australia sounds kind of interesting. One of the Married at First Sight shows was shot in Australia as well, although I didn't watch it. Thank Goodness for Judy Ev!

I love all those types of shows including Married At First Sight (unless I have that mixed up with a similar show).

Isn't that neat that you have an insider keeping you in the know for their lingo. I know that every country has their own way of saying the same thing.

We had this show also in France, people moved on a hidden location where they had to "survive" and complete exhausting challenges. I think I watched once, not the kind of shows that I like.

They probably have that show in almost every country. Mostly these shows are filled with drama as well as the challenging aspect but I find it interesting and an escape.

I used to love Survivor and Big Brother. But I stopped watching both a few years ago. My favorites right now are This is Us, The Blacklist, La Brea, You, Lucifer, and A Million Little Things. I also like Evil, The Handmaid's Tale, and Killing Eve.

Thanks for the mention and I'm glad you were able to follow the dialogue a bit better. We once watched a film set in Scotland with Scottish actors and we found ourselves reading the subtitles!!

I'm really enjoying this season of Survivor and don't need subtitles. We don't realize how much we learn here on myLot from friends in other countries.
