A fun musical piece

We’ve just finished watching a YouTube clip of a guy playing ‘The Typewriter’. This short composition was written by American composer Leroy Anderson. An actual typewriter is used in the performance and I thought maybe you hadn’t heard of it and might enjoy it.
Do you remember these old-style typewriters with the carriage returns and a bell to warn you when you were getting near the end of the paper?
In our brass band days, we played this once or twice at concerts. It’s a bit of light-hearted fun and the ‘typist’ obviously enjoys his role. I the link won’t work and you’d like to see it, maybe search for ‘typewriter orchestra’ and it should come up.
Photo is mine.

That is wonderful. Classical music has that reputation of being “high-brow” and “serious,” and it’s great to see some humor with it!

@kobesbuddy If you were too fast on the manual ones, they used to jam.

Well, that was interesting. I wouldn't have thought anyone would have been able to hear and old fashioned typewriter over the music.

@JudyEv Yes, and ringing the additional small bell to the side of the typewriter. I liked the way he shook out his "tired" hands. And the huge grin he was wearing.

Always liked that one. Leroy also wrote The Syncopated Clock, Sleigh Ride and Bugler's Holiday.

I remember this rendition very well; and I used to have an old manual typewriter just as you described. I think it was a Royal.
