A checkerboard lighthouse

While we were in Bunbury, Western Australia, on the week-end, I took this photo of the lighthouse there. I like the checkerboard pattern.
I read once, that when it was being painted, the painter miscalculated and ended up with two black squares next to each other and no room for a white one. However, I don’t know how correct that is. It all looked good on the side I was looking at.
I always thought I’d like to live in a lighthouse but I guess it would get pretty lonely.

The one who designed that lighthouse could either have a passion for the game of chinese checks or chess :)

@JudyEv Yes :) Good thing if it happens on the side that is very seldom seen.

It might get pretty windy and drafty in a lighthouse too

I guess black and white checkerboard helps the lighthouse camouflage against the blue sky. It doesn't block the view at all.
