Just a few facts about January 31st I read about earlier to share.
1. National Hot Chocolate Day is celebrated each year on January 31.
2. Oddly enough, couples tend to separate or divorce more so in January than any other month of the year.
3. Originally, the Roman calendar had only 10 months, and it excluded January and February.
4. On this day in 1991, the first McDonalds in Russia opens in Moscow, world's biggest McDonalds.
5. In 1969 on this day, the Beatles perform last live gig (42-minute concert on roof of Apple HQs).
Do you have anything to add before January is gone?

I only knew two of those facts. Though the seperation/devorice thing wasn't a real shocker. New year, new start. The sentment of the holidays are gone. The perfect time. I am happy that we're still going strong. National hot chocolate day.... and me without hot chocolate. Ah well, to hot to enjoy it, anyway.

January 25th is the day of St Dwynwen, the Welsh patron saint of lovers.
Here is her story:
Dwynwen was the prettiest of King Brychan Brycheiniog's 24 daughters. She fell in love with a local lad called Maelon Dafodrill, but King Brychan had already arranged for her to marry another prince. Maelon took the news badly, so the distraught Dwynwen fled to the woods to weep, and begged God to help her. She was visited by an angel who gave her a sweet potion to help her forget Maelon, which happened to turn him into a block of ice.
God then granted Dwynwen three wishes. Her first wish was that Maelon be thawed; her second wish was for God to help all true lovers; her third wish was that she would never marry. In gratitude, Dwynwen became a nun and set up a convent on Llanddwyn Island, a beautiful little spot on Anglesey. She prayed for true lovers to have better luck than she did. Her name means, 'she who leads a blessed life'.

I wonder if people divorce more in January because you are cooped up together during the cold and bad weather? There are quite a few celebrities born on January 31.
