The leg that didn't belong

An Australian Paralympic champion, Chris Bond, has a tale to tell about his prosthetic leg. Three months ago, while swimming, a rogue wave knocked Chris off his feet and one of his prosthetic legs became detached. Chris is a two-time wheelchair rugby gold medallist and his leg is worth $15,000. After sharing the incident on social media, locals kept their eyes peeled for the leg. Eve Clifford was overjoyed when she found a leg outside her Kings Beach shop. But here’s the rub. After Chris had inspected the leg, he found it wasn’t his! What a coincidence for two people to have lost prosthetic legs in the same area? I don’t have any photos of surf but here’s one of a horse in the ocean.

What I would consider weird is that nobody else reported losing their prosthetic leg.

Exactly. They took the leg to a prosthetic place in case they could help with finding the owner.

@JudyEv Usually, there are serial numbers printed onto different parts of prosthetic legs/arms, just in case.

@DaddyEvil That might be helpful. Maybe the leg has floated a long way.

@JudyEv They are not at all. Hopefully they did get it replaced at least.

That would be good, wouldn't it? Someone must be missing it and they're not cheap. Maybe he/she already has another from insurance.

Wonder if the horse likes the ocean? That is weird, indeed. Especially since the first person didn’t put up a lost and found notice about it!

You'd think the owner would be looking for it. Believe me, you'd be battling to get the horse in there if it didn't like it. It might paddle but it would be unlikely to go out swimming.

It's new news so no, not yet. We may never hear if he does or not.

I wonder who else is still missing a leg?

@JudyEv Were there any clues regarding how long that leg may have been afloat?

@Fleura No, I don't think so. DaddyEvil thought there might be serial numbers on them. Maybe they need to microchip them like they do dogs!

Maybe they've been asking about their leg in all the wrong places.

@Fleura Some items do eventually wash up a long way from where they started out.

That's what I thought. Surely there are dozens of people around with such legs.

@JudyEv It made me think a shark got the rest of them if they never came to claim it or even a serial killer..see that is where my mind goes

@RebeccasFarm A shark ate them and spat out the leg! Oops - sorry, it's not really funny I guess (smirk)

@JudyEv I imagine that it's not easy to make the difference from prosthetic legs. Of course Chris immediately noticed it was not his leg.

Chris now has a new leg but I don't know if they have found the owner of the other. The woman finding it would have been quite convinced that it was Chris'.

All animals can swim to some degree. Kangaroos are good swimmers.
